Forums - Gaming - Is MicroSoft to blame for Rayman's delay??

The same thing happened with the original Rayman on Atari Jaguar.  The game was completed for Jaguar but it was delayed for a year until the PlayStation and Saturn Versions were ready.  During that whole year none of the improvements made for the PS and Saturn version were made to the Jaguar version.  In the end the game came out on PS and Saturn a few days before the Jaguar version.  I think i read somewhere that Sony paid them to delay the Jaguar version.  Maybe same thing happening now.

Was withcer 2 a retail game?

Hmm, yeah. Did it come with extra content? Maybe a rule they have is that it needs additional content if its a late release?

So, just like Sony requires extra content if the game releases later on the ps3?

Witcher 2 360 version doesn't have any extra content

Its Enhanced.

Everything "Enhanced" on 360 also on PC at the same time, and if you have original version, you don't need to pay any money to upgrade it.

Perhaps they will add more day one DLC to the Wii U version.

Maybe, maybe not.

If I'm Ubisoft upper-management sitting at a conference table over in France, looking at Wii U hardware and software sales since January 1st, would I not be inclined to delay the game until a time when the market might be a little stronger and people more willing to spend $59 on a 2D sidescroller?

Sales estimates for Rayman Legends on Wii U as an exclusive were probably not looking very good. Back in summer of 2011 publishers were all pushing back their 3DS releases until the fall in hopes that a price cut coupled with first-party software sales would boost the market and their sales would go up as a result. It looks like pretty much the same deal, here.

For all we know, Nintendo hinted to Ubi that they'd give Wii U a price cut in September.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

If watch dogs and other games release on wii u I'm fine with this. Otherwise just release on Sony later and Nintendo now leaving Microsoft out of it completely.

Would u feel the same about ps4/720 games? What if those consoles sell less than wii u has in same time frame and wii u is sitting close to 8-10 million? Would it be ok to delay a game 6 months for no reason? Also if they release on wii u now and Sony micro in sept what would be the big deal ? I can't see a single issue with doing that other than helping Nintendo with a timed exclusive. It seems everyone wants Nintendo to fail. I say they charge ubisoft more per game for any game sold on their console from now on handheld wii or wii u. Despite any consequence on Nintendos part. Nintendo needs to be more proactive and less passive about these issues.

Ninja Gaiden3 Razor's Edges have been confirmed coming to xbox360. Or does this not count because it was'nt a ''original'' game?.

If that is rly the case, Ubi shoud have made it Ps3 only and launch it now on WiiU. The number of sells and credibility they will lose from angry Ninty fans should be way more important than the sells on a single console.

Would also send a message to M$. That rule is restrictive, greedy and damageable to the industry. Who send the message ''well, your rule may have helped you in the past, but because of it, your console is the only console not getting Rayman''. May force them to reconsider if some publishers had the balls not to submit to this rule.

Yes, I remember reading that. Just another example of why I buy Sony products.

You buy sony products because MS make sure that its console buyers get games joint first?

if this was Sony, you would be saying its amazing that they ensure their family (fans) get the games first!

I'm struggling to see why this is a bad thing for a business to do.

If this was Sony I'd be saying the same thing. Luckily they don't,  which is one of the reasons I buy Sony consoles. Sony earned my custom with the PS1 and the PS2, whilst MS lost my custom when they immediately dumped the Xbox and started using money to dominate and monopolise the market. They just don't seem to care about their userbase. They've invested hardly anything in the last two years for new AAA titles, whilst Sony have invested in several new IPs. That's just the criteria I use to decide what console I'm going to invest in. It has to a) be around for a very long time and b) offer plenty of new gaming experiences.

You do realize that Sony has the similar policy. If game isn't launched simultaneously on PS3, it has to receive additional content to be approved for release. Just like MS, this policy is to ensure a simultaneous release of software. Regardless this is a dumb move by Ubisoft. The Wii U is in the middle of a post launch software drought and Rayman would benefited from the additional sales. The game will likely tank on Wii U now. Judging by Origin's sales, it will tank on 360. They better hope PS3 fans make up the difference. Instead of having strong sales on WIi U and PS3. They'll probably only have strong sales on PS3.

It's a good policy and I bet Nintendo and Sony have similar policies.

When multiplatform game comes out one of three things can happen. The game get's released first on Xbox as it is, it can release at the same time as other versions but must be at least equal in content, or it can release later but must have extra content that was not included with the earlier releases.

All of these rules are good for Xbox 360 owners.
