If I'm Ubisoft upper-management sitting at a conference table over in France, looking at Wii U hardware and software sales since January 1st, would I not be inclined to delay the game until a time when the market might be a little stronger and people more willing to spend $59 on a 2D sidescroller?
Sales estimates for Rayman Legends on Wii U as an exclusive were probably not looking very good. Back in summer of 2011 publishers were all pushing back their 3DS releases until the fall in hopes that a price cut coupled with first-party software sales would boost the market and their sales would go up as a result. It looks like pretty much the same deal, here.
For all we know, Nintendo hinted to Ubi that they'd give Wii U a price cut in September.
