Forums - Gaming Discussion - Ubisoft announce Rayman Legends to go multiplatfrom, all versions releasing in September

He should be fired for this tweet. Was he drunk or what?

Sad truth is: What he did is probably exactly what his bosses want to see: He produced a ton of clicks with his clever little plot. In the long term it's going to hurt them, cause Nintendo fans like me will stop visiting them. But it looks like IGN's Nintendo department is all but vanished already anyway.

Good ol' Richard George isn't done yet:

Right after the story was posted, he posts his thoughts on the matter in his new article:

"Wii's U Struggle to Remain Relevant" (No, I'm not linking the thread. )

This is just the most absurd turn of events I've seen in a while. *laughs*

As weird as it may sound I don't think IGN's Nintendo section is there for the Nintendo fans.

I think it's pretty much a given that the 3rd party support for this is gonna be utter shite now.

No Madden 25 for WiiU
Rayman now multiplat

That to me shows EA and Ubisoft have little interest/faith in this console and they're 2 of the biggest studios/publishers in the world.

I don´t think EA ever had any real interest in the system, unlike Ubisoft, and that´s troubling because this move is clearly due to lack of faith in the console.

They did at first, they came out on stage at Nintendos e3 and said as much. Like you say - lack of faith.

Not cool from Ubisoft. Not cause I don't want Microsony gamers to play the game (actually I don't care for it), but purely for the negative PR they're giving Nintendo. And they know it.

Do you think this is some kind of power struggle between Ubisoft and Nintendo? Maybe something happened behind closed doors that Ubisoft was very unhappy with.

....but.... the negative press would still be Nintendos fault. Ubisoft doesn't need to worry about Nintendos image while making decisions. That's absurd. And if you really think something happened behind closed doors than Nintendo must be a real lousy company considering first EA now Ubi.

Well, having a good relationship is beneficial to both sides. Ubisoft must be aware that with this move they're seriously damaging their relations to Nintendo. That they still did it means it must have been worth it, in their eyes.

Gotta admit, I'm pretty disappointed.

Ah yes, I remember, though you must have heard about the conspiracy theories about Nintendo turning down Origin, which would have angered EA.

So Bayonetta 2 being made exclusive good, Rayman Legends going multi-platform bad?

Anyway.

Delaying the game for all three makes sense, actually. First, there won't be a needless duplication of advertising costs, and second, it's obvious the Wii U's installed base isn't where Ubisoft thought it would be, so they'll take hurting sales on that platform over possibly hurting sales on the other platforms. Seems pretty logical. Again, it's a simple situation where two consoles with a huge installed base > a single console with a tiny installed base.

Nobody cares about the game going multiplat per se, just that it's delayed in addition to going multiplat, which is the dickiest of dick moves.

You either did not read the entire thread or you are willfully ignoring the people who are mad that it is going muliplat period. im willing to go with the latter.

Yes it does suck that it is getting delayed. I understand that but betrayal? Please, funny how the same people werent crying betrayal when the game was announced as a exclusive, especially since it was the PS3 version of Origins that sold the best, despite it being more expensive than the Wii version. IMHO it should never have been exclusive to begin with , unless UBi thought that people were going to buy a Wii U to play it. And people need to wake up and smell the coffee, just cause its exclusive doesnt stop it from jumping ship sooner or later. RE Revelations, Ninja Gaiden now this, this has been going on between the HD twins for years. Even some Wii games jumped ship, JD, NMH, GE, Muramasa

I can understand being disappointed over the delay but why are so many Nintendo fans suddenly not wanting to play the game at all? Strange.

It still sounds like the Wii U version is going to be the best.

Because every WiiU fan feels extremly betrayed by Ubisoft right now? Delaying a game 20 days before its release AND making it multiplatform at the same time is just backstabbing.

I really wanted to buy the game day-1, right now I'm not feeling like giving Ubisoft any money for it at all.

sounds like what happened with the FFXIII release to me....

Was that also less than a month before the game was supposed to be released? Well, at least PS3 owners should understand the WiiU owners right now.

Oh god, they just shoot themselves... it's coming out on WiiU, PS3 and 360 to compete with GTA5 and who knows what Nintendo 1st party AAA in september, plus probably lost some buyers from nintendo only gamers who are pissed to have lost the exclusivity, if this sells +500k i will be surprised.
