Well it is something that I was looking for from it... So I am not sure I would call it silly

As for the Vaio Tap 20, now that is something I would call silly! But kind of awesome at the same time, I think the main problem with it is that it's battery isn't actually very good at all

Not silly for you to address (since you need that ability), but silly for reviewers (who should know it's not designed to be used in a lap in the first place) to make a big deal out of.

The Tap 20 is silly, but in an epic, awesome way. Battery life is 4 hours of actual use, which is pretty damn good for something that big.

I suppose you could just use it on tablet mode on your lap, but that is what always confuses me about the attraction of adding keyboards to tablets, what do you do with the keyboard then? But it is a market that seems quite popular, so clearly others don't have these issues like I do

4 hours, wow! I thought it was more like 2, the problem is that there is no hugely practical use for it beyond an all in 1, which I think are fairly pointless, but I do really like the idea of a giant tablet

I want to save up for one to pair with an Xbox 720, then use the 'smart glass' app to make it a giant tabletop remote for my media center/home theater. Epic. Of course, I'll probably just have to stick with my surface tablet for that, but I can dream, can't I?

I have kind of fiddled with smart glass, but ultimately I find the controller just as convenient

Also, at the moment my Xbox goes through one of my pc monitors, so I haven't taken much interest in its media functions. I can see things like the ability to continue what you were watching earlier on your tv and the play on Xbox feature for videos stored on your pc might be useful, but I basically live on my desk chair, so I don't use/need them too much at the moment

In my case, I have a decent sized home theater room with a 60" TV and no PC in the room, so it would be pretty cool for that.

If your looking for a good tablet Surface RT and Pro are sure to put a dent in your wallet and be a piece of crap. Wait a year and they will be discontinued and dirt cheap. hp touch pad 2 basically is the surface

Your comment is FUD, trolling and complete nonsence all at the same time.

You could possibly make a case if you really tried enough that Surface RT and Windows RT ecosystem could be discountinued a year from now but you're probably not intelligent enough to do that.

But for Surface Pro, how is the entire x86 ecosystem going to die all of a sudden and Surface Pro going to be discontinued? Surface Pro comes with an ivy bridge i5 and more bells and whisltes than you know. It's more capable than any laptop I know under 1000 dollars.

I'm not trolling? OP asked my opinion and I gave it. I'm also going of someone I know who has a surface RT and hates it. Also I'm just so stupid. I'm not stupid because I don't agree with your opinion. Insulting another member is against the rules. Reported

Oh that clears it up.. You know a guy that has a Surface and hates it. Sorry I wasn't aware you were had the insights like that...

Wouldn't call it insight..the only person I know with one doesn't like it and also looking at its sales with this massive ad push its showing customer response is weak... Your reply was so rediculous

My company (which does IT Consulting) has deployed close to 50 surface RT tablets to our small business customers and the reaction has been very good. Your comment seemed a little trollish (calling the device a piece of crap without backing up your opinion), but his response to it was way uncool.

Ok that fair, maybe my response did seem unreasonable but to me it's not very good. Tablets in general arnt great.

Fair enough, especially if you're not a big tablet fan to begin with.

I won't be getting one in the foreseeable future as it's fairly pricey and I simply don't need a laptop/ultrabook/tablet.
For you, it sounds like it could be a good purchase as it'd run all the legacy software and you could use it as a tablet when needed. I doubt it'd be good for games though so you might want to shop around third-party offerings if you plan on doing some gaming.

Okay. Honestly if it plays league and torchlight 2 I'm ok.
I also have a tower that I can plug into my TV if I need more juice too. The netbook is that thing that I grab and go to vgchartz with, and then some :)

PS fans talking crap about the surface when Sony tablet sales aren't even worth talking about....hell they were recalled before the holidays even started in 2012

Could you stop with the finger pointing? Don't change this thread into something it hasn't been thus far! Also; contribute to the thread or don't post if you don't want to be reported for offtopic posting. Thanks.

Well when I go back home I will have a 100" projector screen! But probably my laptop on my lap.... That is when using a tablet as a controller might be useful, but I certainly don't buy into this second screen stuff for other things, I should be looking at my screen not my lap!

But I imagine the Surface Pro is (given the name) meant to be more for professionals than people looking to use it as a media device, might as well us the RT for that
