i rather buy a new Laptop from Toshiba or Asus, it would be cheaper and more powerfull.

But if you want a all in one then get Surface Pro its probably the best option for all in one devices though it way too expensive.

Only rich people will buy it and thats it. it will probably sell a few milions but Surface Line needs a 200e Tablet so people can jump in.

Those Tablets cost way too much, its unbeliavable.

Cost of the Surface RT = Cost of a new iPad or comparable Android tablet. Cost of most professional ultrabooks >= cost of surface pro.

Tablets are usless compared to Laptops or Pcs... they wont last much longer.

Interesting assessment you have there. I guess that's why PCs are taking so much market share away from tablets? O.o

My Surface RT has better battery life, better portability, runs a locally installed Office client, and can access everything I need for work (via RDP and/or sharepoint), so it works much better for me as a mobile machine. I can also flip open the type cover, pop out the kickstand, and use it like a small laptop (if at a table or desk). Pretty useful, especially compared to other (*cough*, oversized smartphones) tablets.

If your looking for a good tablet Surface RT and Pro are sure to put a dent in your wallet and be a piece of crap. Wait a year and they will be discontinued and dirt cheap. hp touch pad 2 basically is the surface

Your comment is FUD, trolling and complete nonsence all at the same time.

You could possibly make a case if you really tried enough that Surface RT and Windows RT ecosystem could be discountinued a year from now but you're probably not intelligent enough to do that.

But for Surface Pro, how is the entire x86 ecosystem going to die all of a sudden and Surface Pro going to be discontinued? Surface Pro comes with an ivy bridge i5 and more bells and whisltes than you know. It's more capable than any laptop I know under 1000 dollars.

I'm not getting it because Tablets are quite pointless. I have an iphone to do my internet and phone on the go, and I have a basic laptop that runs League of Legends and surfs the internet.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

Wait, wut? As somebody who actually owns a Surface, I can tell you it's a very nicely built piece of hardware that works quite well. Same price as an iPad and comes with Office for free.

Also, the TouchPad is not anywhere near as nice as a surface in build quality, speed, function, or usability.

I am not interested for a few reasons:
1) I have just made myself an uber-powerful gaming PC, I probably should be buying more electronics, my old laptop is still usable if not very portable

2) I have an Android tablet....it's alright I guess, though I might upgrade it to something better, depending on the price of Sony XPERIA tablet Z

3) I am interested in a Win 8 device, but I am more the Sony Vaio Duo 11 than the form factor of the Surface. I watched the Verge's video review and large portion of it was mocking the fact that you can't use it on your lap... which is the one problem I have with my dual-screen monster. I think the idea of a slider or something where there is a proper keyboard dock (like the Asus Transformer line) is far more interesting to me, especially as I find a keyboard to be soooo much quicker to everything than a touch screen

So to summarise
1) Time isn't right
2) Already have a year and a half old Android tablet
3) Not convinced about the form factor

@bold: I honestly don't get why the reviewers keep harping on that. It's basically a tablet with a keyboard cover, not a laptop or hybrid (so they're taking issue with it not doing something that, by definition, it was never designed to do). Try using an iPad in your lap. When I'm sitting and don't have a table/desk, I flip the cover back and use it as it was designed, like a tablet. I also have a laptop for longer trips (using as a desktop alternative), but the tablet is great for light work when mobile.

If you want true laptop functionality, it obviously wouldn't be for you.

Not getting it. I already have the Surface RT and its perfect for what it is.

For my full Windows 8 fix, I found my device...

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Lenovo-Yoga-11S-laptop-tablet,20919.html

Should be out in a few months and fix all complaints people have about the surface (battery issues, can't be used in lap). For cheaper too...

That seems too heavy for me.

I don't use my netbook on my lap anyways, I'm always on my desk or on a tray or a table.

Will get it when I can, need and want it for design and programming purposes.

lol... Im perfectly calm.

Thanks to the iPad and Apple handholding people have this belief that a device is only as good as long as it's supported by the manufacturer. Like if a manufacture discontinues the device, device is dead in the water. This is true for closed ecosystems such as WebOS, Windows RT...but for something like Windows x86 your device is as good as the specs behind it.

Surface Pro has the specs to perform the necessary tasks for a long time and see future iterations of Windows for years to come.
