Excellent. Is that from the Sony earnings thread?

Yes... they are in disussion about that numbers (~15% of shipment is PS2 ) and over 76 million (less than 10% of shipment is PS2 ).

So both will surprass 80m this year.

Such a healthy fanbase both Console Have.

Awesome numbers - 80m is amazing.

Easily, both should do that by 31 sep 2013.

Because it's shipped and we track sold to customer. PS3 needs to have more consoles in the supply chain as it's selling ~30% more per week as the 360.
In other words the sold to customer gap is bigger than the shipments gap.

Is that not because VGC shows 2.5m 360 on shelves and 3m PS3 on shelves at 31st Dec?

The consoles are undertracked... that's the reason.

The truth is that shipment numbers aren't equal to sold through numbers, thus comparing the shipment gap to the gap on the front page is invalid.

Whether or not the consoles are over/undertracked is irrelevant as even if shipment figures for both consoles were at exactly 75m (thus the shipment gap being at 0 units), the 360 would still be leading in sold to customer as the PS3 is selling at currently ~30% more than the 360 each week and therefore needs more consoles in the supply chain.

What you said makes no sense for me.

Then let it go.

Not according to VGC. For the last year or so, MS has always had more on shelves than Sony, especially holiday quarter.
