I don't think hurting themselves right now for the sake of a later times is a great idea, but we'll see how it plays out. Like you said, Ryan, we've seen Nintendo do something like this before and it worked quite well. Crossing fingers that it'll work again for Wii U.
If true, then it be so conservative of them and dare I say frugal? In a business perspective, will it not be more beneficial if they were to just flood the system with games (both great and shovelware)?
Why wait for big releases only to counter the opponent moves, when they can simply build their market now?
It would behoove them to release a number of mixtures of remakes, re-releases, and new IPs all throughout the year.
