It will be interesting to see how a $400-$450 console preforms on the market, especially for a short term success.

i can't name all off them. just know they range from 08 to now. the only thing i'm not waithing for is the cost o next gen. to indie developers.

Well man, I don´t know what to say to you, every time I jumped a generation of consoles, I was amazed.

I had a Nintendo, played Super Mario, Die Hard, Roger Rabbit, Mega Man...

Bought the SNES, it was incredible. Thousand of beautyful colors, amazing sound, bigger and better games like Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, Zeld and Donkey Kong Country.

Then I bought a Psone, jaw dropping experiences, like SILENT HILL, FF8 and METAL GEAR SOLID. The 3d, the CGI scenes, the imersion and all that glorious new gaming universe. What a blast.

 

Then PS2, my first game was SILENT HILL 2. I swear to god, I CRIED. I have been a horror fan since 5 years old, to feel like I really was living in a horro movie, the amazing graphics, the sweet sounds and all the deepth, I will never forget. Also GTA3, MGS2-3, FATAL FRAME, RE4, DRAGON QUEST 8, What a console.

Then I bought a Xbox360. Fallout 3 and GTA4 were my first games. Man, can´t even describe what I felt, Fallout was this weird, pretty new world, it was like another dimension compared to PS2 games. And GTA4. I have played it very slowlly, afraid that it ended too soon.

See what I mean? Every new generation was to me like falling in love again, like being in another new dimension: Everything is more alive, more amazing, more tastefull.

Can you understand?



if thats the extent of your gaming exeriences then im sorry for you... sad thing is, there are N64 games that are factually better than PS3 games, which proves technology doesnt really mean a thing when it comes to design

Not to worry, they will have PSN and XBOXLIVE to release their projects. Also, Rockstar said the cost is not that much higger.

So which extreme should sony take?  Make their console price match the ps3 price of 60000yen/600 dollars and risk another episode of 2006 or undercut and sell at $299-$350 and risk another episode like 2006?


Sigh, I feel bad for these guys.  That's a shit load of people working tons of hours and selling into a market that is merciless.  Audiophile, videophile,  autophile, watch collectors, heck I go through enough golf equipment a year than I spend on consoles per generation.  Most enthusiasts PAY.  Look at PC enthusiasts even.  Video games just don't get the love man.  I try my best in supporting these guys, as I pick up all the consoles even though I really only like strategy and MMOs.  But it's just a sad sight coming into these forums and seeing such low expectations on what is a good price.

Not a bad price between 399 and 500.
I payed 499 for my ps3 at launch i guess i wil do it again lol...

If it launches for $399 here in the US that would be a good price. Seeing as how the PS3 could be $199 by then, it sounds reasonable.

Any more than $400, however, and I can see sales stagnating after launch as most people will wait for the price to come down.

$350 when it translates too $428 in yen/usd conversion? Why would they undercut themselves that much? They need the money, selling at a big loss isn't an option for sony, a small one maybe, not a big one. $399 minimum but most likely $449.
