Developers Hate them...
Gamers love them....
Gamestop takes complete advantage....
USED games are a blight on the industry as far as console manufacturers and Devs are concerned. They have the right to protect their IPs. This wouldn't be a problem if people were not buying more games used than new, all to save a measly 5 bucks. I buy used only sparingly and it is usually cuz I cant find the game new. I am old school, as I like to have my case and booklet in tact. Stores like Gamestop opted to make used games their bread and butter, unwittingly stiring this massive problem.
With the current rumors of MS and Sony implementing anti used software into their next gaming machines, the internet is in an uproar. Gamestop is projecting they will have to close over 500 stores or something within the next 2 years. Many scream it would be unfair but thats debatable. Yet I do sympathize with some of the arguments.
This whole thing can be solved so easily its quite funny...
1. Gamestop and all stores like them, start giving Developers a portion of the massive profit they get from selling their games used.
2.Console Manufacturers no longer have to use speacial software to combat it.
3. Consumers are still able to sell their games.
BAM!!!!!!!!!! Problem solved....
