So, regarding the IGN news, I have four things to say.
1. Rich is an idiot. He's now defending himself on twitter from people going "how the hell do you do that? How can you tease BAD news?" And they're right - it was just another instance of the gaming media trolling for hits, and Rich simply has no excuse for such dirty and underhanded action. He could easily have used words like "unfortunate", and I wouldn't have faulted him. But his choice of actions damn him.
2. Ubisoft's upper management are hypocritical idiots. The reasoning for delaying the game was so that it could launch simultaneously on all three platforms, even though the Wii U version was complete. Do you think they'd have done the same thing if the situation were reversed, and the Wii U SKU was being added? Of course not.
3. The team working on Rayman Legends should be commended. It is clear that this delay comes from higher up, as we know that the Wii U version was complete. Given that this is the same studio that made ZombiU, and that is supposed to also be working on Beyond Good & Evil 2, I expect more quality Wii U titles from them in the future, even if Ubisoft force them to make them all multiplatform.
4. The people who started ranting at Ubisoft for "betrayal" over making it multiplatform are nitwits. Let me be clear - the fact that it went multiplatform is not even remotely an issue. What is an issue is the 6 month delay of the completed Wii U just so that it can be a simultaneous launch. Of course, there's one positive about it going multiplatform - more content is being developed for the game. But Ubisoft could easily have had this additional content distributed through a patch, or they could have released the extended game as a re-release in 6 months. If you're going to be angry at Ubisoft for something, don't be angry with them for it going multiplatform, be angry with them for delaying the Wii U version so it could be simultaneous multiplatform, despite the game being complete and set for release in less than a month.
Now, on to the positive news. Aussie-Gamer confirm that Oliver and Spike is going to release on Wii U. It's no longer just a "we're considering it", it's definitely happening. It certainly looks like an interesting game, so here's hoping it does well.
