I don't think  i've ever seen a group of people so insecure of their beliefs as internet atheists are. I mean, they really need to create threads like these so they can sleep better at night. It's kinda understandable tho, Atheism is a pretty weak belief on itself. Once the airplane starts crashing all of that goes down the shitter.

I remember that old signature of yours. Its final line read, "Atheist until the plane starts falling."

That's hardly an argument supporting that atheism is a "weak belief". If anything, that specific line suggests that fear (in this case: fear of death) triggers religious thoughts. Ratinal thinking is not even in the equation.

Also: Atheism is not a belief. It is complete lack of religious beliefs. How is it "weak" to avoid drawing conclusions based beliefs, and instead rely on facts and theories?

The thing is, atheism and theism are both irrational, only rational stance is agnosticism. But the difference is once the strenght of Atheism is put to test (you're about to see if theres no afterlife) it crumbles completly. Which is why its such a weak belief. Its in human nature to hope for something afterwards, its just nature and psychology, rationality has little to do with it.

And tell me more about these facts that prove God doesnt exist. It takes just as much faith to believe higher power doesnt exist then to  believe it does. Maybe even more, but thats a different topic.

I agree that agnosticism is a rational stance. We (as in: no one in the entire world) can say that they know how the world was created. Agnostic people are open to all possibilities.

Atheism is also rational. The difference though is that they say, "We don't believe in any religion. They are all unsupported by science and make many baseless assumptions." while the agnostic people say, "Any religion might as well be right. We just don't know which, if any." Atheists know that they might as well be wrong in the end of time when God send them to hell, but they don't believe that they are since there is no reason to do so. Atheists also acknowledge the fact that they are equally likely to be send to another dimension created by fairies after death; another possibility that agnostics will not rule out.

Atheists believe in reason, agnostics will not make a stance and theists believe in unreasonable supernatural beings.

"And tell me more about these facts that prove God doesnt exist. It takes just as much faith to believe higher power doesnt exist then to  believe it does."

We cannot prove that a god doesn't exist. But we can prove that God, as he is described in the Bible, doesn't exist. Because the Bible gives him attributes that makes him easy to disprove. I have a video touching on this subject, if you'd care to see it in action.

Furthermore, are you implying that it takes just as much faith to believe that fairies don't exist as it takes to not believe in them? What are the facts that proves that fairies don't exist?

And why is religion the only topic that shouldn't be discussed? Every other topic that's important to humanity is discussed thoroughly to encourage a mixture of different ideas, but when religion comes along, it gets some sacred privilege to be left alone. Why is that?

It's an incredibly silly idea.

Many people are tired of all the generalizing that goes on in religious discussion, I don't blame them. It gets ridiculous.

I completely agree with Brad Pitt here. Gay Marriage shouldn't have been a question in anyone's mind. It's ridiculous how badly some "religious" people take their religion. More or less, those people are creating their own.

Brad Pitt, really? Are atheists really scraping the bottom of the barrel now?

you really, really do fail so completely to understand why atheists are so up-in-arms about Religion having such a huge impact on the world.  I just...why?  What could possibly be going through your mind that you are so incapable of understanding such a simple concept?  Are you so blinded by your anti-atheist agenda that you can't even understand them?

I hate religion, and the religious people who would use it to push their misled values on others, but at least I understand the mentality of the spiritual even if, from a strictly scientific standpoint, I can see the fallacy in that train of thought.

How you escape bans for your aggressive ignorance is beyond me.

lol you quoted me before I edited it

anyway here is one of the miracles besides the miracle that it has remained the same since it's creation 1400 years ago.

lol. I do that occasionally.

Anyway, I need to do some research before I make a definitive statement in regard to Embryology. But a simple google search turned up Greek physician Galen from AD 150.

"But let us take the account back again to the first conformation of the animal, and in order to make our account orderly and clear, let us divide the creation of the foetus overall into four periods of time. The first is that in which. as is seen both in abortions and in dissection, the form of the semen prevails (Arabic nutfah). At this time, Hippocrates too, the all-marvelous, does not yet call the conformation of the animal a foetus; as we heard just now in the case of semen voided in the sixth day, he still calls it semen. But when it has been filled with blood (Arabic alaqa), and heart, brain and liver are still unarticulated and unshaped yet have by now a certain solidarity and considerable size, this is the second period; the substance of the foetus has the form of flesh and no longer the form of semen. Accordingly you would find that Hippocrates too no longer calls such a form semen but, as was said, foetus. The third period follows on this, when, as was said, it is possible to see the three ruling parts clearly and a kind of outline, a silhouette, as it were, of all the other parts (Arabic mudghah). You will see the conformation of the three ruling parts more clearly, that of the parts of the stomach more dimly, and much more still, that of the limbs. Later on they form "twigs", as Hippocrates expressed it, indicating by the term their similarity to branches. The fourth and final period is at the stage when all the parts in the limbs have been differentiated; and at this part Hippocrates the marvelous no longer calls the foetus an embryo only, but already a child, too when he says that it jerks and moves as an animal now fully formed (Arabic ‘a new creation’) ...

... The time has come for nature to articulate the organs precisely and to bring all the parts to completion. Thus it caused flesh to grow on and around all the bones, and at the same time ... it made at the ends of the bones ligaments that bind them to each other, and along their entire length it placed around them on all sides thin membranes, called periosteal, on which it caused flesh to grow [19]."

Seems as though this type of embryology already existed, and isn't at all much different from the Qur'an. Like I said though, I need to do more research.

sounds good! more knowledge doesn't heart

You could use some as well. Start with phylogeny.

Yes he said that.  He is agnostic, not an athiest though.
