Honestly, a ps4 annoucement will have a negative effect on both consoles, in my opinion.  It is no secret that both companies have new consoles coming out later this year, an annoucement will just raise public awareness of that fact.

So no, I don't think we will see the 360 overtake the ps3.

It will be as if Sony trolled the entire PS3 fanbase... even though it was brought upon themselves lol

Why would the PS4 reveal be a worse case scenario?

Infact you should see it as an exciting glimpse of next gen and the announcement of a product you may want to buy in the future, even though you likely pledge allegiance to microsoft now; anything can happen during the transition to next gen systems.

Like how many PS2 owners got a 360, even though I currently like the PS3 the 720 could end up being the system I pick up, although it's not likely it's always a chance. You are a consumer and you should be looking for what the best product is for your money regardless of the brand name attatched to it.

LOL 100% true I was a Nintendo hardcore 6th gen and prior, but I always had a playstation as a secondary console. I think I did play my PS2 more then my Gamecube too. However because my PS2 broke, and the Wii and PS3 at first dissapointed me, I bought a 360 (With an extended warrenty, phew). However this gen, I have grown increasingly more fed up with microsoft. So I'm probably going back to roots next gen with a WiiU/PS4 combo, and I'd likely get an Arcade NextBox late into the consoles life.

Anyway, I hope it's a PS4 reveal, I'm sick of how this bleeding carcass of a generation is being dragged on a hot scolding ashpault road by sequels, and a lot of them are turing out crappy which in turn unleashed vulchers onto the carcass, ripping out it's eyes, giving us no direction to when the next gen is coming.

You do realize that this is being reported on the news already right?  I've seen stuff on cnn and local news about the possible ps4 annoucement.  it isn't just internet forum awareness...
