Aslong as they keep that combat system from XIII, the game is still crap. Worst combat system ever. Auto-attack fest.

I tend to disagree. if u played ff13 and telling me that u beat semi final and final bosses with auto attack, then u are wrong. BUT: ff13 only led to autoattack if u previously worked hard to get the class role switching and paradigms well organised. and that was the basic of fighting. timing switching between paradigms was so fun and seemlesly implemented and then u had to figure out the best setup ofc chars roles and paradigms

ff13 was not good,13-2 was much better.
i really enjoyed playing it.

The game is reviewed so badly just because of one reason.
People who were dissapointed by ff13 were hoping for a complete new, more jrpg style ff,a ff 15 in a fairy tale world far away from the high tech world of ff13 .
ff 13 was a dissapointment, but 13-2 was considered a provocation, especially when you consider that so many great ff games weren't sequelled but 13 is.And I can understand these fanboys,as all people are asking for ff7 hd,but square is sequelling the hated 13 two times.
What makes it even worser:ps3 gamers feel being fooled by square make them waiting for years for ff15 and ff vs and
the fact that Square Enix already has a great japanese rpg they've been waiting since ps2(dragon quest)refusing to release it on ps3 but only on 3ds.As I know another DQ will be released on 3ds these days, but ps3 gamers are punished(they will feel so)with another ff13.

Square did so many things to make their ps3 fans feel beingbtreatex like a bitch,i'm not surprised that they are angry.
I'm not as I'm not a big ff-fan and I don't really care but i won't play 13-3 because of the time cap.

Alright let me be more specific for you.

Its auto-attack and ocasional paradigm shift. I did beat most of FFXIII before i couldnt handle it anymore (went to gran pulse). One of the worst games i ever played. Never again.

Notice the case your making for this game that cant be excused: All you do is change paradigms. You watch, auto-attack and change paradigms when needed. Theres no choice of spell necessary, theres no planning required and theres no strategy within the battles. It goes Attack > Debuff/Buff > Heal. Thats basically the only things you do on the game. Its impossible to defend that. Its a bad game with pretty graphics. Yeah occasionally you might need to change to tank to take a strong attack, but really... 4 choices at best the whole game. Please...

imo:problem of ff13 was.You needed almost no skill for the first hours=tiring and boring.I haven't played auto attack but I made the game with few paradigms because there was no need to change, but when you have to fight a semi boss(and they are real hard)you have almost no chance because you don't know how to use the skills .

Totally agree.
It's all about choosing the right combination of roles and not so much about fighting. Doesn't really matter if it's auto battle or not, since you would select the same attacks as the auto battle system would anyway, but it will cost you more time.
And furthermore the auto battle system isn't even required so people should just shut up about that.

If anything it makes grinding far more enjoyable.

Using all roles is a must in FF13, unfortunately you can finish the story in FF13-2 without using Saboteur, Sentinel & Synergist, which makes it definitely worse in my opinion.

3. Ultimately, yes review scores are important. But looking at the sales, FF13-2 has sold about half the copies of FF13. That means a lot of players just wern't interested in the sequel after playing the first one. That does not bode well for FF13-3. While personally at this point in time I have no intention of buying, despite being a long time fan of the series.

I must disagree : people not buying doesn't mean the game is bad, it just means they're not interested. If Ni no Kuni sells less than FFXIII, FFXIII-2 or Lightning Returns, can we consider it a bad game because people were less interested than in bad games like FFXIII-2? Is Resident Evil Revelations bad because everyone bought RE6 instead? Seriously the amount of sales is not relevant in this debate.

I haven't said the game is bad, but I didn't think the demo was that much fun tbh.

Final Fantasy 13 sold about 7 mil copies, Final Fantasy 13-2 sold less than 3 mil copies. Now no ones saying that it was a bad game, but there is a reason why the sequel sold half of what the original did, and thats because those consumers were not as interested in the game as the first one, for whatever reasons.

Ni No Kuni is a new IP; I'm not going to compare that game to something like FF13-2. The same thing goes for Dark Souls and Demons Souls. Neither sold as much as FF13, but both are considered commercially successful.

FF XIII-2 was a good game. No more, no less. I still need to finish it. Never ended up beating that OP last boss.

The most enjoyable fight in the game. Finally some challenge!

I am glad that I am not entirely alone in liking FF XIII-2, I thought Squeenix made up for their misteps from XIII and delivered a great game that I thoroughly enjoyed

I should point out, I have played IV, VI (partially), VIII, IX, X, X-2, XII, XIII and XIII-2 and enjoyed them all, so maybe I am just a soft touch...
