Around the Network

rumor is halo 3 is going to be released on the pc this year, will those sells count? Also, digital sales as other people have mentioned means halo 3 actual number is much higher...

However, going by vgchartz numbers sure ssbb will eventually pass it.

SSBB.
Halo 3 won't be able to reach SSBB's sales this year since everyone will most likely focus on Halo 4. SSBB usually has quite a strong Holiday, too. (Which is amazing since it's been out for such a long time.)

Correct and its still not discounted(at $20) yet! Its actually in the top 60 as of week ending Jan26 for 2013 video game sales! Not bad for a 5year old game !

True.

I wonder if it'll become a Selects. If so, Halo has no chance.

I'm hoping the NextBox launches with a Halo Trilogy 1080 remastered edition. But I doubt we would count those sales for Halo 3 lifetime.

if that were true metroid prime 1 will be even more higher, or remakes (which nintendo does well) if counted have crazy # sales EX pokemon red/blue + firered/leafgreen= Over 42mil copies O.o

For simplicity sake it really shouldn't matter. If a movie gets released on 20 different formates for 80 years nobody seems to question it's sales numbers. But if a game moves from SD to HD it suddenly is a new game and doesn't count anymore. Remakes are a different story, but re-releases, even HD remasters, are pretty much the same and no different than a B&W re-released in Technicolor.

If those counts then remakes should be included, Anyway that would mean the original mario bros is over 50mil then correct?

Well, I'd say remakes wouldn't count because they are completely rebuilt from the ground up. The Day the Earth Stood Still was a movie from 1958 and it was remade in 2008. They only share a similar plot. To me those are seperate even though they are related. I wouldn't lump remakes in with remasters. A remaster is the original product but enhanced. Halo Anniversary Edition is the exact same game that came out on Xbox but it has been remastered with HD graphics. To me it should count as the same product because the majority of it is the same.

So yes, Super Mario Bros. has been released over and over with only minor updates. I'm not sure if I'd count Super Mario Allstar's version of Super Mario Bros. so I'd have to find out if it was a SNES remake or if it was or just remastered with new sprites and sounds.

People get remasters and remakes mixed up all the time.
