Forums - Sales - Global UP! 26th January 2013

Good to see Sales2099 has not changed after his mini vacation. Props to you for not name calling yet. Here is a thought. Most gamers don't care about sales and if they did this would be the biggest gaming website out there.

Also how about Gears of War: Judgement as your sig. What can be more inspiring than it being a solo exclusive game supporting the 360 gamer.

Welcome back though. Be nice.

Surreal.

I never expected the Wii U to perform as well as the Wii, but not bad like that, man, not like that...and can you imagine if NSMBU wasn´t available?

I don't think anybody on the chartz predicted this, or at least I didn't see anyone predict it. You'd probably be labelled a hater if you did!

True.

That´s one of the reasons a new generation is exciting..it´s a completely new game, being the 'winner' in a previous generation means very little or nothing if you don´t play your cards right.

Well, I did predict WiiU would only do 30m lifetime and be replaced by 2016 prior to launch.

However, looking at these post-holiday numbers makes me wonder if I wasn't too generous in that prediction.  Not even the Nintendo-core are buying WiiU.  Not yet anyway.   Desperately needs games.

30 million?...that´s worse than the N64...personally, I see it somewhere between the N64 and the NES, leaning much more towards the former.

I gave a lot of reasons for that.  Basically the gamepad adds too much cost for an otherwise (soon-to-be) out of date system without any of the benefits that the Wiimote or DS's second screen added.    It's seen as neither innovative nor desirable to the majority of people.  If the gamepad adds nothing to gameplay (and for the most part this is true, almost all WiiU games can be played without it, without losing anything really.  Then the only reason to buy one is to eventually play HD 3D Mario, Zelda, Smash Bros....    There is no other reason to get one.  Worse, if PS4/720 launch as comparible price points (likely since they aren't THAT high tech and Sony/MS will almost certainly take a loss on them once again) WiiU is completely f---edI have to ask, what your reaction the first time Nintendo showeed

I have to ask, what was your reaction the first time Nintendo showed the Wii U at E3 2011?...the Wii, in the beginning of the generation, was following in the NES´ footsteps, then in 2010 it shifted to a more "N64/GCN approach", with the exception of DKC Returns...I take it you, as a Wii fan, started feeling 'left out'.

The 30k gap keeps up then 360 will have no problem holding 2nd til November.

like that will happen with the awesome games coming out on ps3

Ugh @ the Wii U's sales. The hardware side is ass; the software side had Twilight Princess on the Wii beat the entire Wii U library week-to-week AGAIN. Nasty.

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21

Wii U continuing to sell badly. Can Nintendo turn it around?

Vita sales are unfortunately as expected. When will we get a price cut?

Which is irrelevant for a two reasons:

A. The gap won't remain that low (God of War: Ascension and The Last Of Us weeks should see spikes)

B. Even if the PS3 doesn't pass the 360 till next year, it's pretty much a certainty, regardless.

OT: I'm pretty happy for Ni No Kuni, though I'm not surprised. I know a lot of people that bought it and the buzz surrounding it has been pretty strong.

It is a certainty, but 360 fans such as myself see holding out for the "relevant" parts of the gen and not the aftermath sales important.

It's always relevant. That's like saying PS2's sales after November 11, 2006 were irrelevant. Unlike personal feelings, business doesn't work like that.

They were irrelevant as Gamecube and Xbox were done. But more importantly the gamers focused on the newer machines as only casuals got the PS2 from that point onward.

You can disagree, but as this has been said numerous times, winning while the 3 consoles are "in the spotlight" is important. To pass afterwards just means you weren't good enough to pass it within the window of the devices being most current.

Yeah people who bought a PS3 in 2007 for God of War 2 were casuals......
It doesn't really matter either way. Sales are sales. You are an Xbox fan right? Without the "casuals" it would have been surpassed by PS3 years ago.

As long as sales are high enough to be tracked, they are relevant. If NPD stops tracking PS3 and 360 sales....THAT IS WHEN WE CAN SAY IT DOESN'T MATTER ANYMORE.

3DS ain't doing too bad, but everything else is saddening :(

WiiU collapsed even quicker than the Vita, if it keeps going like this, will the WiiU meet Nintendo's forecasts? :S

The discussion passed. Not doing this again. Your a statistical minority that will care post November.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

NEWSFLASH: All of us on this site are statistical minorities. The majority of gamers dont' care that the Xbox 360 sold a little bit more than the PS3. They are out there enjoying games like Nino Kuni and anticipating games like God of War Ascension and The Last of US.

Just because we are the minorities, it doesn't mean we don't matter or that we don't have a voice. Are you familiar with Martin Luther King?
