This is really interesting. Have there been any similar suits in the United States?
The repercussions of such a case could be huge. In theory it could undermine the digital distribution system that Steam is built upon.

they license the game to you, but they dont sell you THE game, so.....nope.
Also, I'm sure the greatest part of Steam users don't pay the full price for their games, they buy them at a discounted price when there's a Steam Sale.

then you should be able to do what you want with that license.

it helps to read the article posted. in europe things are changing. They have good consumer laws so in their eyes you own what you buy and can resell it soo. INlcuding software "licencses". I hope they win and I hope this carries over to the us.

That's done with discs too. People still sell them. People stop caring about any of those pointless mini laws that help the big companies over you. Once it becomes a personal item. Vavle should also allow lending of games and or trading.
I hope they win this suit and the whole EU enforces it, Valve will either close shop in this continent are give us the ability to resell our games. Same with iTunes, they need to give us the ability to transfer content to another Apple ID.
We are too big of a market so they can't ignore us.

This is stupid. Just enjoy the game and if you really need the money for selling it then don't buy it in the first place.

but they don't want to sell the game but their license. I agree with the Germans it should be possible... But that will also lead to more hackers...

they dont need to sell us the games if they dont want to. but if they do they should be ours and we should be able to resale them like anything else that is purchased. There is nothing stupid about it. Its how it should have been from the begining
