Still over? that's smaller than what VGC is showing. Gap is shrinking my friend. Now you said you would call for adjustments for the Ps3 when shipments came out and it appears both Ps3 and 360 are undertracked by the same amount.

I'm glad we good Edit: It's shipped to retailers though not sold to consumers but nonetheless good on Sony. |
I'm not a noob, silly. I know it's shipped to retailers. But, by my calculations, that would put ~2.55M consoles on shelves. Something, according to VGC, Sony has never done. Max it has been for any quarter was 1.5M. But, I guess I could give it ~1.6M-1.7M on shelves, which is where I got my 800K. Then again, with little to no shipments going to Japan or the US (I haven't seen a new PS2 in any store for several months), PS2 could have dropped like a stone last quarter, and the PS3 could have shipped 6.5M. That would be more like 1M undertracked. Have to wait and see how VGC plays this one.
Seems as though they have drastically reduced the loss from some areas compared to last time.
The meeting will start in minutes... maybe some more info.

Nah, the 360 is undetracked by less, definitely. Going by VGC numbers, lately MS has pushed to have more consoles on shelves, when compared to Sony. Still, if we gave them the same number, say 1.7M on shelves, MS is undertracked by ~600K, while Sony is undertracked by ~800K. Now, if the PS2 shipments did truly drop like a stone, to ~300K, than Sony would be more along the lines of ~1M undertracked. Can't wait to see how they handle adjustments.

Why wait for VGC? they havent changed it when sony said 70mil. I bet Sony will give us another update soon. I think Ps3 is closer to 75mil than what people are estimating. (I will not accept that they actually think Sony shipped 800k more in the slow half of the year this year than they did in the busy half of the year last year. Especially when Ps2 sales declined 4 quarters in a row last year... how would they double from a busy quarter to a slow quater. Makes no sense). In my estimates Ps3 only needed about 1-1.3mil in October to reach 70mil and they shipped another 4.7-5mil. This would be in line with them being a million behind both last quarter and this quarter.
I was really expecting a profit. Heck, even Panasonic did it.
IF the Yen would be as strong as it was last year... Sony would be in real trouble.
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
