Forums - Sony - 2 genres that were long neglected make a comeback with the PS3

Infamous is just Sly in a different coat. Ratchet also had 2 good installments this gen.

You cannot fault Sony for anything they do.

Why do people still fall for Turkish's shit at this point?

The guy is so obvious. Sly, but obvious enough.

Don't be paranoid, no secret agenda with this thread. Stop derailing my thread with your nonsense and get out if you have nothing constructive to say.

You can't fool me Turkish, I'm on to your shit.

I can see right through you.

If I see a blue box on the Vg buddy, then I'm going to come and reply to it.

I'm talking to Turkish, not you. So STFU and mind your business.

I agree with Turkish, but that's only because I haven't played very many JRPGs this gen (I did play through most of Trinity Universe before the game screwed me over). Ni No Kuni is everything that made RPGs what they were. It has a unique combat system and a very imaginative story. I can't comment on Xenoblade yet, Last Story, Blue Dragon, etc. I can comment on a few handheld RPGs, but I'll leave the discussion to consoles. I fully agree with the platformer statement though. He's talking about those 3D platformers in the vein of Jak and Daxter and countless clones that were made back in the PS2/GC era (Like Tak). Ratchet and Clank have turned into a shooter almost. Nintendo's gone crazy with 2D platformer releases (With good reason). All there's been this gen were two Mario Galaxies and Ratchet.

Long neglected genre making a comeback on the PS3? How about that of the interactive movie?

Turkish, you should have said on Sony consoles, but even then you would be dead wrong. As there have been JRPGs coming for a while. And we've been getting platformers all gen long on PS3, its called PSN look it up. Now if you are talking straight 3d platformers then yeah. ANd no Ninty, fans, one or two Jrpgs or 3d platformers doesnt mean that Ninty ruled those genres, please. There are probably as much JRPGS released on Wii as there were on PS3, probably less.

I wont say about JRPGS but are you really trying to say nintendo doesnt rule the 3D platform genre???

They pretty much made the 3D platform genre so yeah they rule it lulz xD

No sir, you misunderstand me, Im saying NO one rules the 3d platform gen, because quite frankly that sub genre is now kind of irrelevant, there is nothing to rule. It hasnt been as important since when it came out its all been downhill since then. There not making near the same amount of games as they used too. That goes for for Ninty as well, no two Mario Galaxy games dont mean they "rule" thats insane. Im not talking quality(which is subjective, I enjoyed the R&C games more myself). Im talking just pure output which is not subjective.

Sony isnt that much better, since they seem content to just stick to R&C, but hell at least they are bringing back another of there series, where the hell is my 3d DK, Ninty? Screw returns, you made about six 2d DKs already(yes i count the Land ones) and MS didnt even try no more after B&K game. My point is, doesnt really matter what they did more than a decade ago, where are the 3d plats now? Its a damn shame as i like that genre, and no one say Epic Mickey, those games were boring. Id rather play Spyro 1 again

Sly Thieves in Time looks like it came out of the PS2 era, there are no 3D platformers like it nowadays. I don't count Mario because I mostly played platformers on the PS1/PS2 and it reminded me of the good ole times when the trio Naughty Dog/Insomniac/Suckerpunch were making nothing but fun platformers.

Come one man, be reasonable. Just cause you dont care for Mario doesnt mean it doesnt exist in the world, thats silly. Especially since its more popular than any of the Sony trio ever was. Sly looks great, but ONE game at the end of the life cycle doesnt mean the genre made a comeback that doesnt make any sense. THe only way for the genre to make a comeback would be if, they start to produce close to the number of titles they used to in its heyday, thats not going to happen.

And neglect is a really strong word, in regards to JRPG for any of the home consoles.

As usual Turkish you make another poor thread and ignore nintendo completely. Nintendo dominates in both those genres already.  Last time I checked Mario and Pokemon has potenital of selling 20m+ and they have plenty of other games in the genre that does much more than both ni No kuni and Sly. Now im going to leave this thread.

Look where I posted this thread? Its not in the Nintendo forums so go make your own thread about Mario and Pokemon, I don't care about those games, none of those games take me back to a time when I was playing for example Chrono Cross or Jak&Daxter a decade ago.

Doesnt matter if this is posted in sony or not.  You should have said that Sony has neglected that genre because Nintendo hasnt.  This is why owning more than one console and not bending over for a company comes in handy ;)
