Why you ask? The announcement will steal both Wiius and Nextbox' thunder away. Its 1st of february and the whole gaming community is talking about the PS4. After PS Meeting showing off the console and gameplay videos of PS4 games, people will go crazy! The PS4 will be the big talk, it will have massive hype leading up to E3. Whatever Nintendo was gonna announce at that show, it won't attract as much attention as the next gen. Microsoft better announce the Nextbox on their own event before the E3, I know they had a countdown but announcing it at that show is too late, it will have to compete with both further PS4 unveilings and new WiiU games, not getting as much coverage as it would on its own standalone event.

i think it's not that microsoft has to show it before e3 to be not too late but i also think it is really bad for nextbox even if nextbox would be shown only few weeks later.

since nextbox won't be stronger or even weaker graphically everything they will show will be like “uhh i saw those graphics already for ps4“ or “ohh ps4 graphics impressed me more“

if nextbox would have been first for a presentation it would have been totally different in the heads of people.

that is only a real problem for core gamers and not the casual but that's who you sell your console first to.

No I don't think it's bad for the 720 but kind of bad for the Wii U though.

The wii u will be just fine, I don't see why all three company's can't be successful again

from all the talk, ps4 better be some mind blowing super machine at a reasonable price with a killer launch lineup or else there's gonna be some heartache.

the same hype will happen with the industry when unveiling the xbox, the WiiU is what is really fucked, it launched and the launch hype has dried up. interest in the console is low as its evident by its recent sales. and there are NO big games releasing that are generating hype, yes there is mario kart, super smash bros and 3d mario in the works but no release date, no screen shots and no info what so ever about them. X has a cool trailer but we know no details

the next couple of weeks the internet will explode with rumers, speculation, predictions and articles about the PS4, after they announce it the same will happen, the interent will explode, once things start to calm down its microsoft's turn to announce an event for the new xbox and the same thing will happen. hype will build up before announcments and hype will build up even more after.

that will leave the WiiU in shadow's of the new announcement's. going first gives u a head start but the lack of software now, the low sales and no real system seller at launch has made the WiiU lose its hype and that may come bite nintendo in the ass

how can it be bad for 720 when it will be shown later and steal the thunder from both PS4 and WiiU?

also we don't know what each one of them will show to try and steal the show at E3 so saying Nintendo won't have anything that will do it is just wishful thinking for now.

somehow I think the new xbox will have the least to worry about.

MS can just unveil the new Xbox within the next 3-4 months and take their own thunder right back. It's not as if the PS4 is being revealed February 20th and will launch March 20th.

I think the "thunder" from these reveals will be from games, price, and features, not time of the reveal.
