You pay the LIve fee to access online features via the 360. Don't like it? Get another box and stop pissing and moaning about how that sucks. Clearly Sony is doing something wrong if people still go to the 360 in spite of this. |
Whoever said Sony was doing something wrong just because people are still buying the Xbox 360? People are still buying the PS3 while its sales are diminshing the Xbox 360's lead. Using your logic, Microsoft must be doing something wrong, too. Wait a minute? What was this thread about?

I don't see the difference because both my Xbox and ps3 uses the same Internet connection. The only thing is different is party chat on live... But please tell me how it's Much better? I like the Xbox but live is clearly a rip off. You pay for Internet service, then you pay for Netflix subscription, then on top of that you need to pay live gold to access your Internet and netflix which you already paid for. Netflix is not free, but accessing the Netflix apps should be free. I'm surprised no one file a law suit on microsoft for locking a free app that you paid a subscription to. |
Severs for MP games are provided by the publisher like on any other platform. Where Live comes in is it gives each game a template of features to support and Live itself provides matchmaking and other features from MS. Matchmaking is faster. Connections are more stable. There is also better voice quality on XBL and of course you have Live specific abilities like party chat. Among other things. I enjoy it for the smoother online play and the slew of features that every game supports because of Live. It's far superior to how PSN works, where some games offer some features, missing others. There are also perks that aren't directly related to quality of service, such as the fact that MS takes XBL profits and doesn't charge publishers for bandwidth like Sony does PSN, so way more games have demos on XBL. The fact that it costs money to play online also makes people think twice about cheating or making new accounts just to start over and screw up games with skill based matchmaking.
This is where personal opinion comes in. All that might not be worth a dime a day to some and that's fine. Where I and some of the people who enter every thread about XBL to spew hate, is I understand the concept of perceived value and certainly won't insult or talk to someone based solely on their opinion that XBL is not worth the money.
And idk how a lawsuit would work when it's common knowledge that MS puts these social/media features in the Gold tier. I mean, if Sony cannot be sued for removing OtherOS.. yeah.
Oh lord, my sides. XBL just got a little bit sadder.

lol he works for MS. Calling him a fanboy is like calling Jack Tretton a PS3 fanboy.
c'mon this has to be fake...silver can access a subscription service for less than the subscription period?
Do they expect users to switch to gold once they see how great netflix is?

At this point they're pretty much at par in my opinion. Sony created a garbage service early on, so they basically just cloned exactly what MS was doing and created something at par. It takes 15 to check your ripoff achievements, downloads go super slow, and updates can takes hours... but its become very much the same as Live. Now all Sony needs to do is create games at par with MS and you'll understand why we pay for Live.
Who is MS ripping off? You aren't obliged to use those services on a XBox. Plenty of competition out there. People pay for Live because MS created a great box to use those services on. Also, if you're gonna pay for Live to play online games anyhow, you might as well take advantage of those other services available.
What could they possibly file a law suit on MS for? MS has always charged to use online services on Xbox hardware. If MS offered those services free as a selling point and then took them away, maybe your thought would have some validity. This isn't a case of PS3 and Other OS support.

Who said Sony was doing something wrong? Everybody! The mere fact 360 is still ahead in spite of the momentum Sony had from PS2 demonstrates they did a lot wrong. The only reason Sony has been able to close the gap is because they sacrificed billions of dollars. The fact they haven't closed the gap, laughable.
