I'm not raciest at all, but I'm very aware of social stereotypes.

Racism is considering one 'race' as better than another or all others.

This is a ignorant and dangerous falicy that leads to fear, and hate (what which is not understood is feared, what is consistantly feared is hated). If you actually knew people of all races, you'd see that really, we're all the same, even if our physical characteristics are not.

Really? Would you go into a horse race and say "you know, if these horses had the same chances they'd all reach the finish line at the same time"?

Humans are equal in kantian terms at most... they all share rationality. However it's not hard to see that's far from the only thing dictating who we are going to be and how much value will be placed in us. There is always going to be able to do something without breaking a sweat that you will not be able to do in your entire life, no matter how hard do you try, no matter how hard you wish.

However... this fact or the existence of races does not mean there is such thing as superior or inferior, or more evolved and less evolved. Every single creature, all the way to the dumbest sea sponge, is a winner in evolutionary terms simply because it does exist.

i didnt understand your horse metaphore could you further explain it?

and of course not everybody can do the same things. people are in different situations. and as you said some people can do stuff in without breaking a sweat while others cant do the same thing in their entire life, its all circumstantial. and its impossibile to detrmine a humans worth. i actually find it wrong to say how much someone is worth, i edited my post and i explained that before you qouted me.

just because people have different inherited traits does not mean they are not equal, your taking the word equal to literally. people are born equal means that they have the same right and shouldnt be discriminated against depends on their "inherited traits" no matter what race they are, how rich/poor there families are or what gender they are.

I said this in my first post to you,"(But I know what you are getting at.)"

I knew that you meant this. I just thought you weren't getting your answer across in the right form.

lol i wasnt, i actually edited my post

Think how you'd feel if everyone in your town picked a characteristic of yours and started verbally abusing you and spitting at your feet because of it, and you have your answer.

But, would it then be wrong if the end product is, because of your race (or some other attribute you are born with), you get extra benefits and perks?  Is the issue the racism, or how one is treated due to the racism?

Erm, people aren't born equal either.

Let's put this way; everyone is different. It doesn't mean everyone who is different is bad.

what? how is everybody born not equal?! please do explain

People are born with certain advantages and disadvantages.  If everyone was born equal (the same) then there would be no differentiating between people and everyone would be identical.

Everyone is not equal but everyone deserves to be given the same opportunities. Nothing more, nothing less.

Expressed racism, even hate speech or incitement to violence, is OK. But people are free to judge you for it.

Hate speech laws are bullshit, but in no way should incitement to violence be tolerated.

I agree, though, that the best way to stop discrimination is to stop discriminating. Affirmative action is just HURR DURR ITS GUD WIN WE DUZ IT CUZ GUD ENTINCHINZ.

My contribution to this thread would be something like this. People of minority get more scholarship opportunities than white males... makes no sense. It should be determined by sheer intelligence... because someone is black they get to pay less for school. Stupidest shit I've heard. When I was filing out scholarship applications at my school I came across one that said you have to be black and less than 3.0GPA... so we are rewarding people for being dumb
