Isn't Level 5 a Nintendo Third party studio as well?  Considering the majority of their games come out for Nintendo portables?

yes Sony and Nintendo

edit: CGI don't forget to explain why MS doesn't own GEARS, and you missed Epic for MS for 3rd party.

Fixed. Although, from the recent chatter, Gears of War 4 (or whatever's next) will be published by Microsoft as well. Feels like they may as well pick up the IP, but I doubt Epic would let it go.

if the unreal engine loses popularity next gen I can see microsoft swooping in and just buying up Epic actually.  All depends on how the middleware engines shape up next gen...

Your Sony list is hella out of date.  Just some of the stuff I noticed:

  • Project Siren missing from Japanese Studios.  If Team Ico count, then Project Siren count too :P.
  • Incognito & Zipper Interactive have shut down from NA Studios.
  • Sucker Punch Productions are a first-party NA Studio.
  • Studio Liverpool & BigBig have shut down from European Studios.
  • XDev are a first-party European Studio.
  • Sony also own a Studio in Foster City.  They assist third party devs with first-party titles.
  • Game Republic (Japanese third party) have shut down.  I'm not sure I'd count Media.Vision as third party anymore (they haven't made a Wild ARMs game since 2007).
  • Sucker Punch need moving from the third party list to first party.  Eat Sleep Play aren't working with Sony any longer
  • Sanzaru Games (Sly: Thieves in Time); Superbot (PSABR); Bluepoint (all the first-party HD Collections); Mass Media (The Midway); United Front Games (LBP Karting; Modnation) would be worth adding to third party devs for NA.
  • Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain); Tarsier (LittleBigPlanet); Novarama (Invizimals); Supermassive Games (Until Dawn); Housemarque (Super Stardust) would be worth adding to third party devs for Europe.
Might be worth updating the list of games they have produced/are working on too, but that's a job for someone else!

GEARS judgment is the next gears, but i don't know of gears 4. i doubt epic would let it go either.

To everyone else, bare with me. I'm trying to be as accurate as possible. This wasn't meant as a conflicting substitute to JayWood's Thread, but a deeper look into the subject.

Why did you want to make a substitute to his thread?

Hey CGI, look up my thread for more info about Nintendo's studios: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=153076&page=1

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

But... why?  That just makes things even more messy.  Sony studios date back to the 90's; Nintendo studios even further.  Are we going to go through and list all of those that shut between then and now?

Besides, it's worth flagging them up, since he's put "CLOSED" next to ones that have shut like Zipper, but hadn't for others like Liverpool.  Just pointing it out so he can change them.

If that's what he wants to do though, fair enough.  Ensemble Studios is missing from Microsoft, they closed this generation.  And Aces Studio I think, who used to make the MS Flight Simulator games.

I am listing the closed studios, but I'm marking them as such. Just because they're gone doesn't mean their credentials have evaporated.

Fair enough, your choice.  Just a couple of small things while I have you:

Lightbox Interactive (Starhawk) are third-party exclusive, not interally owned.

And I think I typed my list badly of third-party NA devs, but I meant "Bluepoint" as another developer, not a game by Superbot :P.  They handled Ico HD, God of War HD & the Vita port of PSABR, among other things.

I'm actually quite confused by how different you've made each listing of the big 3's studios: it seems as if you've used bold, italic and underline very randomly....

Add Nintendo and move away from the "versus" moniker. I've actually thought about doing it a couple of times before, but got the inspiratin from the latest thread (as this has been done before, but I'm tryng to add a few twists to it).

Nothing against his, just a different version with extra info.

I wasn't thinking you were trying to go against his thread, I was just wondering.
