after E3

I'm expecting both PS3 and Vita to get price cuts to $199 announced at E3 along with full PS4 details. Something like "but Sony is committed to a 10 year life cycle for all of our Playstation products. And with a plethora of first party titles released this year already, along with those we plan to release in the coming months and years to add to the BEST first party lineup in the industry there is no better time to pick up a Playstation 3. That is why effective immediately we are price cutting the Playstation 3 system to $199 for the 250gb model, and $250 for the 500gb model. With bigger a huge amount of storage and our lowest entry price ever, we are confident Playstation 3 will be enjoyed by new customers for years to come" after PS4 details, then get back to PS4. A Vita price cut early in the conference before PS4 would be good as well as a price cut on memory cards, but you don't need to transition or reassure people on that systems future viability unless they think it'll be discontinued.

Until they can afford it? I don't know how much it costs to make, but I assume their hands are tied at the moment. Making a loss on hardware might not be an option.

It depends on how much the system costs to build. That cost should be dropping slightly by the week but we still have no idea when it will be financially viable to cut the price.

If margins allow, I think a price cut should be announced at E3 or another conference, and should coincide with the release of a top level game, like Killzone: Mercenaries. If they could manage it, which I kind of doubt, cutting the price for the release of Soul Sacrifice in Japan would be a fantastic time.

i will say june at E3. but it really needs a price drop now

VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3

Its stupid if Vita waits intill june/july (after E3) for a price cut imo. Its best at least in March because one its games will/going to be out (soul sacrifice, etc) and if it waits intill june/july 3DS will have MH4 in Japan.

Also note that 3DS will blow up when Oct comes, (pokemon x/y) and at that time no console or Vita will touch it in sales. Vita needs the attention now!

As soon as possible. It needs price cut $100 to be competitive.

and to bankrupt Sony...

honestly a cut to $199 (just $30 more than 3DS shouldn't hurt) and cut all the memory card prices by half along with a 64gb one for $75 would work wonders I think.  Memory cards are one of the main reasons I haven't checked it out yet.
