That 100% sure happens on Senran Kagura and Tales of Hearts R release. |

It's already behind PSV's weekly pace, as you can see in the YOY comparison I posted above. I wouldn't bet against it. Nintendo owns Japan, eh? |
Nintendo killed DS sales in Japan to sell the 3DS, and it was a resounding success, but only after a major price drop to the point of losing money per console, and ambassador program.
Nintendo killed Wii sales in Japan to sell the WiiU, and have failed thus far... but I'm sure there will be a price drop and another ambassador program soon. This will be more financially difficult, however, since the Wii U is already a net loss per console sold, and Iwata even hinted that this problem could not be solved until 2014.
Nintendo's "domination" of Japan actually totters on a razor thin line that is highly reliant on overseas profits, which have been struggling due to lower than expected 3DS sales. The LDP's recent monetary policies to weaken the yen have been extremely beneficial to the company, however.

Nomnom, it'll soon be pacman style for the 3DS in Japan.

I for one would say Mario and MH are two of the biggest system sellers in Japan, but maybe not when looking at the sales of the WiiU |
With Monster Hunter, though, isn't that the THIRD port of a game that came out 4 years ago? Not to mention it was already on the Wii and the 3DS, which is getting a proper 4th game as well. I don't know if MH3U was destined to push much.
Same with NSMBU, which came out just a few months after NSMB2 and is the 4th game in a series built around 80's/90's nostalgia. You can only prime that pump so many times so quickly. I'm waiting to see how the new 3D Mario does.
I'm starting to get scared of 3DS and Animal Crossing, it's selling ridiculously good.

It is extremely popular among women and children demographic. That female demographic in particular is especially good since it is pulling a lot of customers who would normally not be purchasing video games.

WiiU really does not matter, the thing could be discountinued and Nintendo would still own Japan, at least for this year. Should I start listing the releases of 3DS for 2013.
OT: I guess there was a new shipment for Fantasy Life, and I really wasn't expecting those two PSV. But still quite a meh week. Now, the countdown until WiiU gets below the infamous 10k.
Glad to see Vita at least get an increase. That's what you get when you release games!
Ouch at Wii U. When is the games drought over?
