I suppose this could function in some relative way to kinect, but what else could it work with?

Uhm probably not. Calculating depth with stereoscopic cameras is really really hard. This rumor is from someone that doesn't understand the technology.

Sony getting move and kinect, that's the way. I think Nintendo needs its own Kinect-like device as well.

Also, dual-camera is used in the 3DS to take 3D clips.
