Quick question guys,

How do I use all new DLC costumes I have received?

I have, Ocarina of Time set, Demon King set, but no where to select that in the game.
Help!!!!

When you've chosen the scenario/map/whatever and are choosing your character, you press a button to choose the costume (it should show up in the bottom-right corner when the character is highlighted - I think it's x, but I could be mistaken).

EDIT: For those who don't know, even if you don't have any DLC costumes, Link has access at any time to the outfit he wears in the first stage.

Oh Thanks, I haven't noticed that!

I will check as soon as I will be home!

That's great to hear

What Hyrule Warriors gameplay would you like to see integrated into Zelda for WiiU?

A lot of it, actually. It could perhaps be on a smaller scale, with the "maps" turned into a kind of grand puzzle as well as a battle. Would really make some of the overworld more interesting, and dungeons could work with a variation on that.

The parts I wouldn't want (other than the obvious, such as the menu 'overworld') are the distinct "stages" (I want a feeling of the entire world being just one large land, rather than distinct pieces as with previous games including Hyrule Warriors), the focus on battle-based objectives (I'd rather see the battling be a means to an end, rather than an end in itself), and the disjoint movesets (you shouldn't be restricted to only one main weapon). Also, secondary items (like arrows, boomerang, etc) shouldn't be relegated to an awkward secondary function, for obvious reasons.

On the other hand, I really like the feel of attack combos, etc, that arises from three different main attack commands (plus a dodge command), an item-attack button, and then a magic button. It gives the fighting a more dynamic feel. I also like the somewhat over-the-top action (Zelda titles have been pretty restrained on this front). Basically, the style of fighting in HW is what I think Zelda titles should aim for, although the format should be adjusted.

That's interesting.

What if EAD incorporated something like the large-scale battles in Kameo?

In Kameo, the battles were more window dressing than anything else, but what if Aonuma and company created huge battlegrounds that popped up at certain moments in the game that demanded direct intervention? That might satisfy the itch for more combat and strategy.

Here's my experiences so far:

After 1-2 hours of playing I was just confused. I hated the game and considered selling it. If you're a newbie to the DW franchise (as I am) it completely overwhelms you with concepts and tasks. You're still trying to figure out the controls, and meanwhile the game yells at you to do 3 things at once, minimum. It doesn't give you any idea of the priorities though, and as a result I had a constant feeling of doing it wrong.

Not willing to give up I played some more battles and read some tutorials, and now I'm starting to get the hang of it. Also the default Zelda mode controls are not ideal I think, but you can change them (I didn't like the triggers setup).

So now I'm looking forward to playing it! Music and cutscenes are impressive, and once I accepted that it's not a full Zelda game (not trying to be either) it becomes fun. The familiar settings and characters / enemies still give it a strong Zelda feel - it's like you get to play the battle / war parts of a Zelda story that you'd normally just hear about in an opening cutscene.

I had some trouble with the triggers, also, at least during the demo I played. Glad to hear they're customizable.

Here's an update on the upcoming Hyrule Warriors DLC:

Nintendo has announced that Hyrule Warriors will get four packs of DLC, and that if you choose to get all of them with a $20 season pass, you'll get a bonus Dark Link costume for free.

Assuming the DLC packs are identical to those announced for Japan, three of them will be based on previous Zelda games, while the fourth will introduce two new game modes:

  • Master Quest Pack: New weapon, scenario, adventure map, and two costumes
  • Twilight Princess Pack: New character, weapon, adventure map, and two costumes
  • Majora's Mask Pack: Two new characters, adventure map, and three costumes
  • Boss Pack: Two new games modes

In addition to the free, day one content update, Nintendo also announced another free DLC for October 16, which will add four of the game's villains as playable characters.

Yes it's weird, because they call it "Zelda setup", yet they place both targeting and blocking on the left triggers (target on Z, where Zelda convention would have been ZL), which is really uncomfortable when fighting a boss, where you need to target and block simultaneously a lot. Instead item use is on ZR - who wants to throw bombs with ZR?

So I changed it to:

  • ZL for targeting
  • ZR for blocking
  • L for special attack
  • R remains "activate magic"
  • and X for items

U can use the stronger sword (higher attach rate) as long as they have the same name (white sword etc)

sry for my bad english - it is not my 1st language

For the record I stop by my local Gamestop like every other day... And I always see people checking or playing Hyrule Warriors out on the Wii U... They be like "WHAT system is that for"? When they hear Wii U they usually pause with a surprised expression to the face and then they be like "It's still whack"...

Nintendo is making a bigger Dent people!!

Ah the common exasperation towards Nintendo and the Wii U...

I see more people going "f*** it, I'm getting a Wii U"

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I think I'm going to wait now for the first comprehensive FAQs. Not knowing which conditions to meet for A rank or even the second skulltulas in legend mode is killing me right now.

Conditions for A ranks on long missions are always 1,200 kills and below 15 minutes; as for damage, just don't take a lot. On short missions you just have to be quick and take little damage.

Regarding skulltullas, you can view the conditions in the menu > character > skulltullas. There are some question marks, but it's usually easy enough to figure them out. Make sure you use not only the correct weapon type, but also the correct model. For example, in the first chapter you have to fight with Link's weakest sword, not one of the stronger versions or any fire staff.

Yeah, that was the problem in the first map. I did it first with the Master Sword and that didn't work. Making progress now. If it's really only 1200KOs and 15 Minutes for every A rank this is gonna be a lot easier from now on. Before that I was going for under 10minutes and above 1300KOs.

Earlier I tried one of the Legend missions on Hero difficulty. I totally got my ass kicked. I needed 2 normal combos for simple Outpost captains that are usually done after a short combo. You really need a lot stronger weapons and some of those neat defensive upgrades.

BTW What do those upgrades do actually? I'm seeing them for all elementals but nothing to boost your general defense.

It says that they reduce damage for levels where the elemental suggestion is this or that, so I guess that all enemies' attacks in such a level will be affected. Or in other words, there is never any use for general defense the way this game is programmed.

Hero difficulty will never get easy. With Link at level 80 and an 8-bit sword with 420 attack, it still takes several weak spot combos to finish off commanders (and many more to kill bosses). The game really drags on if it takes so long to kill stuff. Maybe there are level 4 weapons... I hope so.

Does that mean they are scaling up the enemies by level? What I described was with a Link Level 40 and 8Bit Sword 280ATK.

Well if it gets too hard at some Point I can still enjoy the game on Easy with my OP characters breezing through the waves :)

It's about time that I start leveling up my Lana. Stupid Link got all the action lately. And I haven't even tried out Zelda or Agitha yet.
