Forums - Nintendo - Which will have higher sales? Skyward Sword or Zelda WiiU?

Chances are WiiU Zelda will sell better because it's still early in WiiU's life.

However with more and more people going handheld buying cheap games, it could end up with low sales and low hardware sales. It could be the beginning of the end for home consoles.

The sales should be better since Skyward Sword was released at the end of the Wii's lifespan. But we don't really know all too much about the new Zelda nor do we know much of how well the Wii U will perform.

There is too much that we don't know.

Thosen't the fact that is was relese at the end of the Wii generation mean that is suppose to sell better then at the beginig or halfway?

Since you know, it has a wider user-base.

Zelda Wii U should do better, I both hope and think so. Windwaker HD sounds exciting though, I might have to take a look at that.

Not in the case of Zelda. Majora's Mask released later on in the N64's life, but couldn't match the sales of Ocarina of Time. Incidentally, both Majora's Mask and Skyward Sword required additional attachments and were released well after the N64 and Wii's prime.

Like most here, I think Zelda Wii U. Skyward Sword suffered from its late release date and from the necessity of Motion+. Zelda Wii U will be in glorious HD, and it will be the first new Zelda on the console. Plus, according to rumor, the Gamepad was partially designed with Zelda Wii U in mind -- meaning that it will use the Gamepad in some pretty cool ways.

I would guess Zelda Wii U sells between 4 and 5 million lifetime.

No way to tell, at all. Right now, that is. We know NOTHING about the WiiU zelda, save for the fact it's in development and they're trying to somehow change it up.

No, since it was released at the end less people would be looking for new games for the Wii.

Not to mention that the install base for the WiiMotion Plus peripheral is significantly smaller than the install base for the Wii as a platform.

And this has to do with?

Totally true. Nintendo took a real chance with Skyward Sword.
