Pezus has clearly never played Risk. Cede even one territory to your foe, and they'll use it as a secure base to steamroll you with the bonus troops they get each round.

Good thing this is real life and not risk.

I'll remember that when the extra three troops a turn Nintendo will generate from this are sweeping aside Sony's forces in Asia, then Africa, then, Europe, then...

then....? Then you wake up?

What he's saying is that Nintendo can branch out from Japan using it as their stronghold.

What's extremely important is the growth of China and it's console market which has been plagued by bans and piracy for years. If China ever obtains a fixed market for videogame consoles, then it is highly likely that it will be Nintendo and not Sony that gains more ground there attributed to a closeness in culture to Japanese games more than Western games. I don't agree with Europe/Africa but the rest of Asia? It is entirely possible.

But do you actually believe China will get rid of their laws against video games/consoles? I honestly doubt it, at least not in the near future.

Megaten 1 was originally on the NES, Megaten 2 was originally on the SNES, Megaten 3 was a PS2 exlcusive and Megaten 4 is a 3DS game, Persona had always been only on Sony platforms but P4Arena came to the 360 and Strange Journey was only on the DS, Last Bible and Last Bible 2 where on the GBC, while Last Bible 3 was on the SNES, what i'm trying to say is that clearly you don't know what Atlus is up to, well... no one knows, they are crazy as you can see ^^

Yes, Nocturne or Lucifer's Call depending on where you live. :)

The console ban isn't a gigantic problem, it exists on paper but not heavily enforced.

What is rampant is software piracy, and it is the main reason that videogame consoles out of China. There are some loopholes that companies have taken advantage of, and China doesn't have a ban on videogames, just the consoles. (Online gaming is the most prominent in China)

If you search for iQue player in China you will see what I mean by "loopholes". Also recently, the PS3 got approval in China.

Which means we might get to see a growing Chinese market for Video games along withn the rising Chinese middle class. As most of the Asian centric teams that will appeal to this demographic are located in Japan, to secure this market one pretty much requires the Tecmo Koei, the JRPGs, and the fighting games.

It might be fine to dismiss the console market of Japan because of the low percentage of total sales there, but only foreign companies like Microsoft are allowed to do that. A company not supporting its domestic customers will get a lot of hate. Japan is just as symbolic to Sony as it might be strategic. In the games industry, Asian games=Japan.

(Though I agree, risk wasn't the greatest analogy)

Just take my word for it, Japan will become increasingly prominent in the coming years, this gen Japan held the least amount of importance ever.

This just might be flamebait material. I'd say no. Sony will still have its western devs.

The situation in Japan on the other hand......

Oh crap i dont want it to be flame bait!!! I was just saying! Cuz i dont know anything about Shin_Megami_Tensei

Well at least you have a nicer title now.

Shin Megami Tensei is Japan's 3rd largest JRPG brand, right behind FF and DQ. This is actually pretty big.

There's quite a big gap between SMT and FF or DQ.

I think the Chinese like games that Westerners like more than what the Japanese like. Just because they're both in Asia means nothing. MMOs and PC gaming is huge there, exactly the opposite to Japan.

True, but videogame consoles are banned there.

And I'm just saying it won't suddenly shift to consoles, just that the market has the possibility to expand. Same with South Korea. (LAND OF STARCRAFT YEAHHHHHH)

My point is if the console market begins to expand, Japan will be valuable.
