I hope that this year there is a ps vita heaven or something.... We and Vita need it.
SONY hear US!

LittleBigPlanet Karting. Wow. Didn't even realise it was releasing this week over there.
Digimon opened MUCH lower than I expected. Disappointing. DMC seems alright to me... a western-developed version was never going to open to the same amount as DMC4.
Run for money still raking it in... definitely been the most interesting game to watch in the Japanese charts lately. Nice to see One Piece & Everybody's Golf hanging on as well.
Yakuza looks like it's going to have nearly exactly the same LT sales in Japan that the last two games have had. There's certainly a solid fanbase on PS3 for that series :P
Vita and Wii-U disappointing, but expected. It was obvious last week that Wii-U would drop below 20k and Vita below 10k. Poor :(

Why so mad? You guys been bugging us about the Vita for a year, and now we're bugging you about your console ? huhuhauhauhaa Anyway look at the 7 year old PS3 go,Beautiful. |
Why should I be mad? I have my console and the lacking sales gave us todays direct episode. I am reassured that I made the right choice with the Wii U. Can't really say the same for my Vita. Iwata fully acknowledged the shortcomings and that they are working on it. What did Sony do? They told everyone the Vita was selling according to expectations and put their fingers into their ears.
Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Continue to let expectations play no part in it. The Wii U selling worse than the PS3 is a surprise considering all of the gains NIntendo had. Vita has been selling poorly for over a year now. It's in line with what people expect.

PS3 was never a hit in Japan, far from that. Most japanese third-parties migrated to Nintendo platforms or Handheld(PSP + NDS) |
Also pretty sure people called the PS3 dead back then. It was doomed and had already failed. Some fought against that because it had some big sellers on the way (FF, Monster Hunter (at the time it was still a PS3 exclusive, Metal Gear, etc.)
DmC bombs.
Vita=Just shoot it already
WII U=Not worried at all after Nintendo Direct.
Until Wii U was released in Japan, I though the same as you. But a Nintendo console pulling numbers that are worse than a 6 years old console, proves to me that home console market in Japan is dying.
Japanese gamers have migrated to Portable gaming. Life time sales for Wii U are going to be very similar to PS3 in Japan.
I think the same as you. Japanese gamers have migrated to Portable gaming. I prefer play on Ps vita more than ps3 or xbox.

What gains did Nintendo have? The Wii U was having basically no release schedule whatsoever for a couple of months. |
Gains as in the brand Nintendo built up with the Wii. While it struggled at the ends of its life, it seemed Nintendo could do no wrong for 3-4 years.
It will be interesting to see if the Nintendo Direct has any impact on next week's figures. I'm sure people have to be a lot more optimistic about it now.
The Vita's numbers are expected and will be this way as long as the PSP is getting the lion's share of software. There are still a few more PSP games scheduled to be released soon that will see nice numbers. The good Japanese Vita games are further off, if I remember right.
