Continue to let expectations play no part in it. The Wii U selling worse than the PS3 is a surprise considering all of the gains NIntendo had. Vita has been selling poorly for over a year now. It's in line with what people expect.

What gains did Nintendo have? The Wii U was having basically no release schedule whatsoever for a couple of months.

Gains as in the brand Nintendo built up with the Wii. While it struggled at the ends of its life, it seemed Nintendo could do no wrong for 3-4 years.
