Chrome Android is really bad. It takes ten seconds to install the default browser though. I don't know why they made Chrome the stock browser.

"It is slower to open on the Surface but you get full web experience." lol.

Oh come on now.  In both videos he says its faster to open on Surface at the end and experience isn't even close...

When he was trying to open a video the Nexus 4 was significantly faster to open it, yet he claimed the experience was better on the Surface. Just that spesific part. I am not talking about in general.

It is no secret that the Chrome for Android sucks. It barely works  on my 1 Ghz old phone. The default Android browser is way faster and performs 30% better in benchmarks.

Plus there two browsers open for Nexus 10. There is much more workload.

If Chrome is no good there is the second video that showcases how dolphin on Android fares. Benchamrks talk is one thing but different from user experience which is similar to Chrome.

Also, here he says Surface renders full web experience faster than any other browser and has better experience - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=cI53tTXcPY8#t=636s

I am talking about the default Android Browser (pre 4.2.1). It is much faster than Chrome. I don't know about Dolphin, never used it.

It is, beginning from 4.2.1. Before that it was just called Android browser and it was much better than Chrome. I don't why they changed their mind, stupid decision. Fortunately it is easy to sideload the APK.

I'm pretty sure Google Flagship phones have Chrome as default...

Surface is a solid device. Even better considering this is their first device. I still think it will take them one or two more iterations to perfect the experience. I think for most people the price becomes an issue as Surface seems more expensive than it really is.

I personally haven't felt the need for tablet yet as i don't know where it will fit in between having a smartphone and desktop pc. Tablet's are getting better and better each year and cover most of the things average users really want to do. Exited to see what Nokia does with their windows tablet plans.

Surface looks much more fluid, but I think his gripes about switching from mobile -> web on Nexus 10 Chrome are obsolete. At the end, when he's zooming on both tablets is he using the mobile or web version or a facebook app? I have a suspicion it's either a facebook app or mobile version on Nexus 10 which is why he can only zoom so far.

I agree, its a minor issue at best.

A bigger issue for me is that the high res screen on the nexus is actually hurting the web experience since all images are upscalling and looking fuzzy.

That and the lag and slowness on the nexus obviously...

Actually, the Nexus devices aren't laggy (I've a N7 and it's absurdly fast). The Chrome browser version in it is a little heavy indeed, but it have the advantage of beeing very complete for a mobile browser, rendering pages exactly like the desktop version. Some sites are faster on my WP IE browser, but it isn't rendering pages like the desktop browser, with a lot of missing parts and problems specially with CSS and JS, so it isn't a good comparison.

I'm not sure how valid any of these will be since all the ultrabook/ultrathin platforms are being updated with touch screens with great battery life and much more powerful.

I also loved the Surface. If I didn't buy an iPad almost a year ago, I'd seriously get the Surface. Oh well :) iPad is still very nice.

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

I agree there are some CSS issues with IE but this is mainly because pages tend to be designed for Webkit browser. You will run in to occasional dropdowns not working properly etc on IE browsers... So Microsoft has to improve there for sure. Maybe provide a "webkit" remder emulator mode.

However the overall user experience and fluidity of the IE on the Surface is still noticable. And this is on the lowly Tegra 3. iPad browser runs on a chip which is supposdly twice as fast.

With that said, Nexus 10 is probably hurt with the massive amount of pixels it needs to render which also hurts the images quality due to upscalling. I am positive nexus 7 and other tablets run a bit smoother.

This!

I'm waiting to see how Intel's new chip turns out and I think then it'll be an ultrabook transformer model which switches between laptop and tablet. I can't see the money in tablets with a watered down OS for me. I want a full fat windows experience, but the tablets that offer that at the moment cost the price of full fat laptops.

Tablets are looking increasingly like a bridge product at the moment that will be irrelivant in 2-3 years.
