Does anybody here agree with me when i say the WiiU has had some pretty decent launch games?

Let me elaborate..Wii owners were generally mocked last gen when they wasnt getting great blockbuster titles like Batman Arkham City ,Mass Effect etc. Fast forward to WiiU launch, and from day one games such as the above mentioned along with Darksiders 2 were available at launch. These games were well received when on PS360, but when they hit WiiU suddenly they become old hat and nothing but old ports. I find these comments a little unfair on people who were Wii only owners, who are now experiencing these types of games for the first time. A good game is a good game, and as the saying goes "better late than never".

Err I have seen the comparisons, Darksiders 2 looks like a bad port. ME3 and Batman are a year old, most people already played it on PS360, its not an incentive for those owners to go get a WiiU. The ps3 didnot get year old 360 games after its launch.

I have already played those old third party games on my PS3 so there is no reason to buy it again on Wii U, and if i was to buy them now I would buy them on the PS3 as they are now cheaper (and there's trophies). I bought the Wii U cos of ZombiU. Whether buying a new console for one game was a good idea (cos I really dont like Mario and Zelda games) remains to be seen.

Although your point of not having these games on the Wii is valid, I expect most who purchased a Wii U are core gamers so they would probably have more than one console (like myself). The casual Wii audience who would not be interested in the games you mentioned are probably not the majority of Wii U owners.

It just depends on whether you had already played them. If they are old hat to you
then nothing to twist your knickers over, if you missed them on 360/PS3 then they are well worth a look,
especially with some of the new tablet features...... Either way it's better for the launch line up, I cant remember a launch with so many choices.
When I bought my Japanese PS1 in the day there was Ridge Racer and Tekken to choose from, although admittedly they both rocked!
With a fairly quiet release schedule in front of them, Nintendo need to start announcing a few more 3rd party games sooner rather than later (preferably exclusives) or not even their own franchises will stop the competition leaving them for dead.....

Wii U had one of the best software launches ever when taken out of context. When the age and availability of the games are factored in, it looks less impressive. Looking back, perhaps Nintendo should have released the system with more software that was unique to Wii U, even if it was unknown.

But Nintendo was trying to send a message to its customers that it would support the sexy, big-name products out there. Had Pikmin, Rayman, and LEGO City joined the launch, I think the January numbers would look a lot better. I'm confident that the numbers will rebound in March, however, and climb steadily until E3.

They are decent. I like the extra functionality with a tablet screen. Batman is graphically superior on WiiU. But I gotta say, the almost same game is cheaper on other hardware. If its $60 it better be blackops2, farcry3, dishonored, and other new releases. Otherwise lower the price. But, I agree with OP, it's a VERY decent launch line up. I would have bought some if I wasn't so cheap. The extra screen is so much better.

Here is the thing. They became old ports and irrelevant, because they were not going to be big sellers. I'm just saying that the games might still be as good as they were or even better,  it is the sales part which people are more interested in. Nintendo fans say that they are old ports because it is an explanation for low sales compared to other competing consoles. People who are interested in console sales say that they are old ports, because they are not going to push much hardware. And finally, butthurt fanboys say that they are old ports.. well because they are butthurt.

One thing I wanted to say--despite reports to the contrary, Batman looks noticeably better on the Wii U. I played both the 360 version (installed on the HDD) and the Wii U version at the same time and everything looked sharper. The only issue was that, when the open world loaded a new area, there was a framerate stutter.

I imagine that if Wii U gets the option to install or if I'd gone digital, that wouldn't have been a problem, either.

I got Ninja Gaiden, too. It was tough buying that game for $60 when the collector's edition of the 360 version (not sure what was in it but the box was huge!) was only $29. Same with a lot of games. Still good games but more expensive on the Wii U.

Many Wii owners were multi-console owners. I hope the majority were otherwise the missed out on some of gaming's best gems. With that, wouldn't it be fair to assume that many Wii U owners likely already own consoles capable of running Wii U's best titles already?
