Pokemon Silver. The Ice caves after Gym 7.

I had no idea how to solve it so just kept grinding and grinding....and grinding...I had a lvl 72 Meganium before I decided to quit the gm.

Restarted 2 months later, with Cyndaquil this time, got through the cave in 1 try.

The first time I played Dark Souls I played all the way to Undead Burg not realizing that I had picked up a better weapon than the one you start with. The whole time I thought to myself that people were right, this is the hardest game of all time. I had to very carefully lure enemies away from groups to take them out one on one and I made made trips to the bonfire to build up my strength and other attributes.

Without knowing it I had a better weapon right there and I didn't notice. The level boss took me forever to beat and I felt like I had just done the impossible and wasn't sure if I really wanted to keep playing if the game was just going to get harder.

After the bird dropped me off and I made my way to Undead Burg I died on the bridge and was so frustrated I started looking at the menu to see if I could make my character stronger and that's when I noticed the sword. I equipped it and suddenly the game was easy and I felt like an idiot.

I must have died hundreds of times with that damn sword in my pocket.

Ok, this actually made me laugh.

As for my mistake... I don't remember any mistake like that. I kinda feel empty now that I think about it ):

playing blast corps for 15 years and still havent finished the game

I hear ya. Was so fucking proud to have gold medals in every level when they revealed that there were in fact platinum medals. When I looked up the times required to get those I almost puked.

Regarding FF13 talk, I stopped playing the game at the part where they showed that black dude's kid. That's the most creepy kid I have ever seen and I still have nightmares. That's uncanny valley territory.

My biggest gaming mistake would be that back in the day I sold my N64 copy of Ocarina of Time for next to nothing. I still regret it to this very day.

Another big mistake was at the final boss of Resident Evil Revelations. I pretty much mastered the evade mechanic at this Boss alone because I didn't get how the boss was supposed to be defeated. So I did it the hard way and evaded all his attacks instead of stunning him. I don't want to get into any more detail since the game is supposed to release on other consoles but the design of this Boss is just beyond retarded. Same goes for Wesker in RE5. We were playing co-op and pretty much emptied all of our ammuntion into Wesker even though he was invulnerable and when we were supposed to shoot at him we were out of ammo, save for like 5 or 6 shots. Luckily he can still be defeated if you know what you have to do, but it took us like 20 tries to figure it out. Capcom is really bad at designing bosses imho.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

I once turned off my friend's Gamecube while it was saving TimeSplitters 2 right after one of our matches. His entire file (with over 300 hours of gameplay and achievements) was deleted. I felt so terrible. But, it did give us a reason to beat the entire game on the hardest difficulty again, which was fun!

I cringed reading that. I loved that game. Better than the first Halo in my opinion. Too bad Xbox had the clear LAN party advantage over PS2.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
