California is broke guys...unfortunately.

When you see all the free-loaders in my clinic for the past 1 month you will know why... (It's January, so all their disability is due).

Case 1: "my son is in jail, i have anxiety. I cannot work"
Case 2: "I have severe congestive heart failure from my cocaine use, which i swear, i only used a very small amount when i was young. I am always short of breath! i can't work"
I ask, "you are quite obesed, have u tried using ur elliptical machine at home?"
he answered, "yah i have, i do about 15 minutes a day"
I said, "you know, ur echo showed improvement of your heart's EF from 10% to 50% (near normal)"
he said, "Please extend my disability for another 3 months, i just don't feel ready to go back to work as a chef"....

Case 3, "I have fibromyalgia, i have pain everywhere, can i be on life-long disability?"

Then i go to walmart and i see hard-working people in WHEELCHAIR doing cashier job!!! That makes me feel ashamed that i extended the disability for Case 1 and 2 for 3 months, and told Case 3 she needs to see a rheumatologist if she thinks so so "disable" that she' can't work bc from my assessment, you can function in at least doing some office work...

Damn. This is fucked up in so many ways. "Fuck You, Pay Me" seems to have went from mob motto to government motto.

hate to bring guns into every thread, but this is the kind of government wrong doing that the 2nd amendment kept us armed for. a lot easier to retroactively tax a person who can't defend their property.

well apparently the government can force you to buy things as a condition of living, and they can tax you if you dont want to. so this doesnt seem to surprising.

anyway, why are there still businesses in the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia, havent they all left for free states by now?

Let's see I pay 39.5% federal income tax, 15% social security, 2.9% medicare tax, .9% medicare surcharge, 3.8% investment surtax and phased out deductions and exemptions. Fine, I pledged allegiance.

California wants 12.3 % from me with clear intentions on finding more and more ways for me to pay for the privilage. No Thanks. That's why I moved last year. This is like getting a bill from Blizzard because they decided to offer their game as free to pay for those with reported income below a certain threshold and those above just need to suck it up to keep their accounts. No thanks, not playing.

Because of momentum and other such things. If you're a tech sector company, you have to weigh California's tax code against the fact that all the other tech sector companies are there, so it's easier to find experienced people who you won't have to pay relocation fees for, and have all the expertise you could want local and immediately accessible.

Plus it's hard to convince people to move from a place like California to a place like, say, Oklahoma. The lower cost of living doesn't make up for the fact that a lot of the red states are cultural wastelands.

Most parts of CA are cultural waste lands too. Unless your rich and live in nice parts of hollywood/la/San diego/San ransisco/ and some beach cities. The rest is crime ridden and crumbling.

Yet here I have reflux, chronic head pressure, neck pressue and ringing in the ears due to chronic sinusitis, chronic back pain, carpal tunnel in both hands and I work 40+ a week while my fiance has bulging discs which cause chronic back pain, she has a terribly low immune system (Always sick), asthma and anxiety issues and works 40+ as a Nursing Supervisor in a Pediatric office. -.-

Bunch of lazy shits I tell ya...

Right, and for major businesses trying to attract top talent, that's what matters. South Central LA is, for all intents and purposes, a world away from Orange County, Silicon Valley, Napa Wine Country or upscale San Francisco. And you're not going to get anything close to any of those cities anywhere in the South or the sunbelt. Closest would be Austin, Texas (which does do a good job of attracting and retaining up-and-comers) and southern Florida (but even then, Southern Florida is just pretty, and doesn't have the oomph factor of the hotspots in California or Austin).

Certainly the states trying hardest to attract businesses aren't going to get everything out of California. Though Alabama is doing well with foreign car-makers. Tennessee has some strength, but then again Tennessee is also a cultural hub of its own.

Nope. Nobody is going to defend retroactive laws or the clusterfuck that is CA politics.
