Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo delays a majority of its launch window titles

Interest theory.

It would make some sense to delay some coming titles to give a very strong holiday season next year when the other new consoles are likely to launch (with few games)

Around the Network

Would be A-OK with me ...

March - Lego City Stories
April - Pikmin 3
May - Wii Fit U
June - Mario In Wario + Panaroma View
July - The Wonderful 101
August - Yoshi's Land (?)
September - Monolith RPG
October - Wii Sports U
November - Super Mario EAD Tokyo
December - Mario Kart U

Seems semi-plausible. I get the feeling Retro's game is not making it this year and they may be pulled to help out on Mario Kart again, as that's a big priority title for Nintendo.

Even if they got those games that Soundwave mentioned, the other consoles are getting them as well. I do not understand Nintendo. Get the games! What is so hard about that!

Well, I mean it's difficult to make games, especially HD games.  They require at least 100 people and two-to-three years of extremely difficult work.

Nintendo has had at least one big game for their home console every 4th quarter for as long as I can remember. I'm not worried about this at all.

I imagine they are spreading out their launch window games because otherwise they wouldn't have anything else ready for the 2nd and possibly 3rd quarter. I'm expecting something bigger than NSMBU towards the end of the year. Then again I might be dissapointed to find out it's Mario Party 10 or something. I still remember that year Nintendo's holiday releases consisted of Wii Music and Animal Crossing: City Folk. Hardly games for core gamers.

It's going to take more than one big game this fall to turn things around. Wii U is currently selling below GameCube-levels.

Can you back that up with numbers? The PS3 and X360 apperently sold far worse within the same timeframe.

It's true that Nintendo needs more than one big game for Q4 to stay relevant. The OP suggested that there might not even be one, and I pointed out that the minimum would be one. I'm guessing three.
