If you want Android gaming on your TV then go buy an Ouya.  Vita would have to have retractable analog sticks to even be a phone and even if it did it wouldn't sell that much (plus they would have to put a mega battery on it to even make it through the day as a phone and gaming device).

Around the Network

According to Vgchartz the 3DS by around April 1st 2011 sold more then the first 1 month sells of any other video game systems ever.

And according to vgchartz the Nintendo 3DS first 12 months sells (Feb. 26 2011 to the near end of February 2012) is greater then the first 12 month sells of any other video game system in history.

And thanks for pointing the increase in Year on Year sales, but technically it should be February 26 2011 to February 25 2012 VS. February 26 2012 to February 25 2013.

So we haven't seen true YoY sales yet.

And the Wii U first 2 months sells are coming out more better then the PS3 first 6 months sells. (according to vgchartz)

And same goes for the Wii U first 2 months sells compare to the 360 first 6 months sells. (according to vgchartz)

Plus the 3DS has its Micro GPU clocked at 400 MHz compare to the 360 500 MHz clocked GPU vs. the Wii U 800 MHz clocked Radeon High-Definition GPGPU (requires 1 GB of RAM to do so).

But you can check out this graphics comparison video:

(the 360 version pops up later, to be compared to the Wii & 3DS version at once, for the same part of the game (3-way split)

And here's a list of 3DS games:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_3DS_games

I can't wait for Dragonball & Batman & King of Pirates & Pokémon Mystery Dungeon & Fire Emblem: Awekening & Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon & Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate & Monster Hunter 4 & Lego City Undercover & Pokémon X and Y & Rodea the Sky Soldier & Super Smash Bros. & Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles 3D & Final Fantasy Advance 3 & Ninja Gaiden & Assassin's Creed (NOT Lost Legacy, but a different exclusive) & Zone of the Enders & 3rd Resident Evil exclusive & Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of the Frozen City & Many more 3DS exclusives (excluding Lego & Smash Bros. because these 2 are also on Wii U)

Do have a list of upcoming 3DS exclusive games you look forward to?

Steambox is going to have linux and you'll be able to install windows. We'll see how much does that help its sales.

Your 3DS sales analysis is laughable at best. I hope you have the good grace to feel silly about it this time next year. The 3DS's 'stalling' YOY sales are the result of three things, and only three things.

The first thing is software. Of course the 3DS sold better last Nov/Dec than it did this past Holiday season. Do you see the difference in releases?? In 2011 the console got a new 3D Mario (first ever original one on a handheld), a new Mario Kart, and the first ever Monster Hunter on a Nintendo handheld. This year it got... Paper Mario, Professor Layton... Animal Crossing in Japan helped it just about keep pace in that region alone, but Europe and America didn't stand a chance.

The second thing is software. It's VERY telling that Nintendo's biggest release last year across all platforms was a DS game. Not a 3DS game... a DS game. The DS was an absolute powerhouse, right to the end. And you can rest assured that it is now finally, mercifully, the end. The 3DS's biggest competition last year was its predecessor. It won't have that problem this year.

The final thing is (surprise, surprise!) software. Notice that both of the previous two issues the 3DS had last year are already put to rest for this year. Don't worry about Nintendo having a Holiday release that can drive console sales: Pokémon is coming. Don't worry about the 3DS being upstaged by another console in the software department: Pokémon is coming.

It only takes a glance at the 3DS's software lineup for 2013 to see that the console is going to do quite well this year... very well, in fact.

But I'm sure right after hitting 50 million LTD sales in under 3 years, the platform will immediately divebomb into doom territory, eh?

Uhm, forgive me if this may seem a tad in poor taste, but didn't the Wii do something similar? People were going on and on about how "Oh, so you're saying that the sales will suddenly stop?! Lol, that's ridiculous!", when what a lot of people actually thought was that it would have a very steep decline after an early sales peak and historic rise, this gross polarization gets you nowhere (the same crowd laughed at the notion of a DS successor as early as it came, yet some of us believed it not only possible, but likely).

The 3DS won't divebomb, not exactly, much like the Wii, but could well be headed for a similar decline. Its more or less directly in the path of the "new world" in gaming (i.e; tablets and smartphones). I have said this many times in the past 2-3 years and I will repeat once more; dedicated handheld devices are going away for good.

The reason why the Wii dive bombed was because Nintendo stopped supporting it.  The moved onto 3DS and Wii U support.

I'm not really convinced that this is what people want in a console. I mean didn't Microsoft remove Facebook and Twitter from the 360?

Also, Windows 8 had a hard enough time making sure everything works with mouse and keyboard as well as touch screen. Adding in controller support would mean they have to start from scratch, and would have to update every app they already have. This kills one of the benefits instantly, and means they have to basically relaunch the app store.

Plus full OS means less security. Or at least the perception of it in the minds of Sony and Microsoft. They would probably be too scared.

Finally people are accepting the fact that nintendo isn't doing well. It only took 1.5 months to understand this?

I wonder how long nintendo can hold onto their dedicated handheld though. Current smartphone sales have eclipsed dedicated hardware by literally hundreds of millions. I wonder what the ratio of smartphone sales to nintendo 3DS is. Probably 500/1.

Wii U has nothing wrong with itself. What Ninty did horribly wrong was almost killing Wii far too early, more than one year before Wii U launch, so that Wii name was weakened a lot by the time its successor was launched. A marketing mistake so clumsy and gross that if described without naming names, one could swear it was committed by Sony.

Everyone listen up.

The 3DS sold more in its first 1 month sales then any other video game system in history (for same point in life-spam).

And it sold more in its first 1 year then any other video game system in history (for same point in life-spam).

and come Februay 25 2013, the 3DS will sold more in its first 2 year sells, then any other video game system in history for the same point of life spam.

(Global Sales)

The 360 is selling less each week in America alone compare to the 3DS in the same country. (VGChartz as shown in January 12 2013 week sales)

The PC was suppose to reduce Home Console sells but it did the opposite, and that's what's happening with Smartphones & Tablets which are suppose to reduce the Handheld Console sells, but instead are doing the opposite, as shown with 3DS sales.

To say that Smartphones & Tablets are killing Handhelds is the same as saying that PCs are killing Home Consoles.

The 3DS has more shooters in both quality & quantity then the PS Vita (Kid Icarus: Uprsing & 3 different Resident Evil games & Nano Assault EX & Star Fox & conduit & Rodea the Sky Soldier & many more)

The 3DS also wins in RPGs with Kingdom Hearts & Pokémon 6th Generation & several Final Fantasy games & King of Pirates & Heroes of Ruin (with Online voice chat) & Beyond the Labyrinth & Brave Default: Flying Fairy & Project X Zone & Crimson Shroud & so fort.

The Wii U already has a bunch of Western exclusives:

ZombiU

Bayonetta 2

Lego City Undercover

Razor's Edge

Sing Party

Wonderful 101

Rayman Legends

Resident Evil exclusive (announce by Capcom of Japan, but NOT Western game, I just like to mention it)

And who knows what else.

And the Wii U sales during the same point of life spam is better then any other Home Console in history (excluding Wii).

These are the facts.

so please explain your Nintendo is doom fanboy-ism.

Was Obama's re-election doomed?

If anything I am worry about the PS4 & 720 for not even getting PS2 sells, let alone Wii U sells, let alone Wii sells.

And the 3DS has been selling better then the DS since month 1 and still continues to do so (excluding a few weaker weeks during the first 5 months)

I think anyone who thinks the 3DS and/or Wii U is doing bad, is someone who is all about the Status-Quo, after reading this entire Thread for what's been posted so far.

And I should add that the 3DS has a lot of Smartphone/Tablet ports in the eShop to play in 3D 60 fps, 6 speaker sound:

Angry Birds 3D (the only retail one, not eShop, but has 19 exclusive levels to play on the go)

Speed X 3D

Pix 3D

Monster Shooter (also stereoscopic 60 fps)

Planet Crashers (also in 3D and so fort. Plus  it has Online & Local Multiplayer)

And others.

Does that really matter?  Your ratio means nothing if the 3DS continues to sell.  If we see a huge decline from DS - 3DS then I'd probably side with you.  Smartphone gaming might be catching up (gameplay wise) but it is still very far from what some want.  You know people value buttons, d pad, and analog stick for their hand held gaming rather than pure clicking.  You can show me a few awesome smartphone games and I can show you hundreds of bad ass games one the DS and 3DS.

Don't bring up the stupid attachments that you can do with your phone.  I'm sure most people don't want to walk around with a phone and an accessory to play smartphone games with buttons (even though most games probably don't even support said attachment).
