Just for reference, these are the Wii and PS3 numbers for their first corresponding January in Japan to compare:

Week ending Jan. 14th, 2007:

Wii: 95, 723
PS3: 30, 102

So you can see not only is it no where close to the original Wii now that the holiday honeymoon is over, its notably below the (very expensive) just launched PS3 at that time.

I have been saying this for a while now, just look at the launch numbers in the us and europe there horrible, yea you can campare it the wii and 360 but those systems were sold out, so there is a perfect explanation, why they sold like crap.

LOL, ouch. 

I think they figured with Mario + Monster Hunter they'd be OK for a while. I think they probably also overestimated the appeal of Nintendo Land, it's not bringing in the wider casual demographic. I don't think they were expecting it to be Wii Sports, but I think they were expecting more than this for sure.

Lower first December than the PS3 in North America too in NPD. That's not a good sign.

Wii of course was still hot selling 90k+ this week in 2007 in Japan.


the wii u will be killed off by 2014. its just not selling and its only 299$, not being able to sell so soon after launch indicates that nintendo fans have moved on, it basically has no fanbase.
