Ahahahahahah! ...Ahahahah!!...Ahahah!! Oh that was good...microsoft is the "future" of tv. Maybe if this was 1996 lol.... That's a good one. Post PC world isn't looking very hospitable to microsoft. It's their own fault though.

Not sure if serious or just trolling.

Kinect, XBox are huge sucess... MS is already winning Tv battle with Xbox 360, let alone 720.

Post Pc world ? where do you live ? Pcs are here to stay, dont be fooled boy. Without Pcs world was doomed there wouldnt be videogames or most of things that are today.

Pc were the past, are the present and the Future.

Are you living in reality? Samsung, Apple, and Google are dominating every multimedia device out on the market. The xbox is "winning" the tv battle? How? By paying Sony and other studios to use their content on the xbox marketplace, that no one outside xbox fans use? Any numbers to support your statement? No, didn't think so. I laughed when I read that comment you made.... delusional lol. No offense there, dude.

Streaming video is dominated by Apple, followed by Android, and probably will for a long time.  Thankis for injecting some reality into this.

I dont think that is true. Is apple known for being a big video streaming company? never heard of them as such. When i think streaming video i think netflix, hulu, etc. for tv xbox is the only non cable device i know of that streams rgualr tv as a tv (as in on a channel at a time just like a cable box). MS also makes some of their own shows i think for xbox live. Its pretty interesting what ms has done as far as a cable box, digital movie distribution device.

In terms of dollars and sense gained from streaming with devices like tablets or smartphones, then yes apple dominates.  In terms of programs not affiliated with a platform, then you would say that youtube and netflix dominate.

What I don't understand is why they think $60 games are tiny toy things someone might play but the real score and goal of company like Microsoft is to get people watching TV content through their hardware with no revenue to Microsoft.

Sure MSFT is still stupid about charging for XBox Live Gold to allow people to watch Netflix... but that can't last when Sony and Nintendo and Roku and SmartTV Apps and SmartPhones and PCs and SteamBoxes and everything else other than MSFT don't charge for such passthrough access.

...

So actually all that free service stuff is me2... while the games are the real value for any of the companies involved in that space.

If Apple gets in and has people buying content via their "store" they might get royalties... but the rest of it will be free. TV content isn't going to be making MSFT, Sony, Apple, or Nintendo any money.

IIf a company generates a very healthy revenue stream from doing something, why do you say it is "stupid"?

Nah. I think Sony has a much better shot at that. Xbox 360 is stuck behind a pay wall so the audience will be limited. If they change that in the NextBox then they could be the center of the living room. Until then, they have to worry about Sony.

you even serious ?? Tell how those devices from apple or google conect to tv anyway ?

Microsoft with Xbox is miles ahead of them, dont fool yourself. Those are ahead in other things, not related to tv.

Microsoft has been unsuccessful in Tablets, Smartphones, MP3 Players, HD-DVD, and Search Engines. They have failed miserabley to mimic their "windows operating system" successes in ANY other field lol. You LITERALLY have NO IDEA what you're talking about lol. This is so sad. You're like the 3rd person I've had to whip around today, for being a known-nothing lol.

You too, are in over your head. I like how you can't actually respond to anything though, because clearly don't know what you're talking about.

I agree that microsoft has done some interesting things with their offerings. The "original" programming is not a microsoft exclusive feature. Sony has done the exact same thing. Having exclusive content doesn't mean you're dominating any industry lol. There's no connection there. Clearly you're not aware of Itunes. I believe at this time it is the number one streaming/download service used for content. Considering the amount of Iphones/Ipads/Apple devices out on the market.

Microsoft isn't leading anything. Neither is Sony. Sony does controls a MASSIVE catalogue of content, via Sony Picutres Entertainment their Music Group etc... So my point stands. Microsoft has to pay Sony, to use their content. Xbox fanboys can't stand that fact lol.

I dont think most people care. Its most likely not ms paying to use sony pictures, but sony pictures getting a cut off of the rental fee, just like any other rental service. I know with itunes you can buy movies and music, but i did not know they streamed movies and tv. And MS is leading in the cable box area as no other company has that option. I cant use my apple device with my fios network (cable) to watch programming, nor can i do that on a sony device. I can only do it on my xbox, or my cable box. That is where they are leading. As far as i know sony nor apple nor google have any partnerships with any cable companies so it would be hard for them to get network tv going as it takes time to strike those deals. I am talking about TV service in particular here, not buying shows, or renting, or streaming, but using my xbox to watch the sci fi channel live as its aired etc.

Edit: What I mean is right now i pay a 15$ a month rental fee for my DVR and Cable box, my 360 can almost cover that spot, it needs dvr functionaltiy and access to a few more network for my use but its almost there, the 720 may be what i need. So if they continue down this road the 720 may replace my cable box altogether and i will save 15$ bucks a month. No other device besides another cable box can do that. Even a pc with a tuner card still needs a cable boz to allow it view the channels you subscribe through cable service.

There was an article a few days/weeks ago that showed how much superior the PS3 even is for Media Streaming.
Netflix the most important App is doing a lot better on the PS3 cause its free.
And as long that old model with XboxLive Gold isn't changing they will not overcome Sony in that segment.

As long as Microsoft can't even overcome that they will achieve nothing relevant in THE WORLD.
Especially not if like 3 apps are available outside of the USA - You have 300 apps announced for the US and we(other countries) get maybe 1 of those and that is mostly garbage or the thing no one wants.
Sony isn't maybe the future of media streaming either but they are much closer,And the TV business itself is owned by Samsung and that won't change in a long time.
