Forums - Nintendo - This is what Pokémon would look like with modern, 3D graphics

When I saw those pics a couple of days ago it got me thinking how Nintendo could use the Pokemon hype to boost Wii U sales without actually releasing a full blown Pokemon on a home console. I never played Colloseum so maybe my idea is old but here it goes:

What if Nintendo releases an online lobby / arena application on the Wii U eShop that looks like the one in the OP? You would enter the lobby as your Mii and transfer your Pokemon over from your 3DS game. In the lobby you could chat with other Pokemon fans, form teams and challenge other players/teams to battles/teambattles in an arena. The app would require a permanent online connection and Nintendo might provide servers to prevent hacking/duping/cheating. There would be leaderboards and something you could earn and transfer back to the 3DS version, maybe ribbons, trophies, Pokemon colors, I don't know. Also, aren't there Yu-Gi-Oh type Pokemon cards? Let's also have this incorporated into the app. I'm talking a card game tournament area and I'm talking Pokemon cards with NFC technology to build your decks.

Thoughts? I'm not a Pokemon fan but to me that sounds like a true real life destroyer aka success.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

@Unit - Look how bland it looks. It doesn't matter what the models look like because it does not bring charm of a pokemon game. As people stated, that looks like something ripped out of Mass effect with a Pokeball graphic slapped on the floor. Part of charm is the ability to maintain the atmosphere associated with said product. OP does not

The characters/Pokemon could still have an animeish/charming look to them, I don't see why any would view environments like that to be a bad thing :p

yeah i agree... i thought it looked good... i mean imagine a chansey walking on that hall, chansey-gasm

what if pokecenter start charging?

Nurse: Due to the new healthcare reformation, you will now be required to pay a fee upon service depending on the condition of your Pokemon!

Eh I thought it looked pretty good, but I totally understand where you are comming from.

Ick. Keep the muddy dark textures to the FPS please, that way I don't have to deal with them. Pokemon X and Y have got Pokemon graphics exactly where I'd like them to be.

Nice work, but I wouldn't want Pokemon to look like that.

My eyes!

On second thought, looks like this could be a cod stage, lol. Add-in for CoD on Wii U? ;P

Pokemon should have manga alike grafix, i meand like if where hand drawn

It just looks plain bad. Not the kind of game I would buy.

Lifeless? lol

Edit: Maybe cause there arent any actual character models.....XD?

Just have HD models of what they used in the last 3D Pokemon Stadium like game and add the style that is seen in the OP - of course Nintendo would never go at the heights that other Japanese developers/companies would go like Squareenix/Capcom/Namco (in terms of the graphic design).

Lifeless was pretty good word to use.

Even if you'd add "more colour", it still wouldn't look like Pokemon.
It was just your generic FPS with a pic of pokeball. If you'd add more colour, it would be your generic FPS with a pic of pokeball and more colour.
