I would rather have had this setup ...
Wii U + Classic Controller + Wiimote (WM+) = $349.99
Still expensive, but I'd rather the specs really blow the PS3/360 definitively away. 1 TFLOP GPU + 4GB of RAM, no 30 watt roof for the power consumption.
But I'd still like the tablet screen controller as an *optional* accessorie ....

Same thing as getting Wii Fit + Balance Board back in the day. The tablet controller is neat, but I just don't see it's use for every game, in a lot of games it's just a pointless map screen or something and not everyone needs/wants the off-TV play (especially if it only works close to the main TV anyway).
I'd rather have had more powerful system, launched maybe a year earlier with Skyward Sword, so the userbase could've started to build more quickly.
