I will choose my next console by the games, although I have to admit that I'm already pretty invested into PSN, so switching to a different manufactorer is hard for me at this point and I really only need 1 console a gen.

Sony will make it powerful enough. I go for exclusives and Sony always delivers on that front. Uncharted, Ratchet, Resistance, Heavy Rain, PSAllstars, Infamous, LBP, GoW, and many more exclusives have earned a permanent place in my library. What I love is that I can follow studios that deliver new IPs each gen as well as my favorite franchises from gen to gen. It's the perfect mix of old (improved) and new. With Last of Us, Sly, Beyond, GoW, and Puppeteer all coming this year I know they'll support their consoles well into their lifespan so I always have confidence in buying one. I'm not worried about power because I always think "If ND can make Uncharted 3 and LoU on a system with 6 year old tech and 256mb of RAM, what can they do with tech from this year or last on a system with 4gb of RAM?" then my head explodes and I know it will be powerful enough.

You can compare trophys with each other.. and gamerscore enforces people to buy dlc, to get the 100%

While you can get a platinum without the need of dlc, plus why would anyone pick points over a trophy, seems a bit silly.

The reason achievements are more popular is the same reason that trading cards are more popular then stickers. It is all about building a collection, and some developers take the time to create unique titles, or even more interesting point rewards for some of them. Ironically I think the rarest achievement I have is from Blue Dragon, and it required me to run from battle fifty times. It wasn't hard to get, but it was strangely enough pointless to get. This particular achievement was worth zero points. To a lot of people that means it wasn't worth the time.

That however makes it a truly rare achievement today. Long after the game has left the retail channel, and since almost nobody who played the game cared enough to get a shaming achievement. I have a bragging right that a lot of gamers with more points then me don't have. I can say I got a zero gamer score achievement, and if you don't believe me you can go compare games for yourself.

Personally I hope Microsoft takes the concept further. I would love to be able to arrange my achievements for display, and it would be even cooler is unlocking a achievement also unlocked a trading card for the game in question. Add just a little wheeling and dealing into the mix.

as long as ps4's online multiplayer is free and xbox 8's isn't i just can't see buying an xbox.

but i will evaluate first party games, OS features, and gimmicks (move, kinect, whatever) too.

nope, Im choosing exclusives over graphics......got burned with the first xbox and n64, never again

I dont need a new controller design Dualshock is fine for my small hands.

I'll probably end up getting both again, but the one I get first depends on pricing, exclusives and specs. I think the specs will be pretty close though so that won't be a major factor. I don't like paying for Live Gold either so I don't play games online on Xbox anymore, I did start Playstation Plus to get the free games that come with it.

Come on now N64 had enough exclusives.  It had some of the best games of all time exclusive.
