Let me get this straight...

Mojang, which made Minecraft and that's pretty much their only claim to fame, comes out ahead of Nintendo EAD, which has turned out the biggest-selling console games of all time, as well as every Zelda, Mario, etc. Relic, which makes Warhammer, makes it onto the list, but Retro doesn't show up.

There is no sign of the makers of Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, or Pokemon, but Capybara Games, best known for Critter Crunch, gets a mention. And Arkane Studios, whose biggest claim to fame is Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, and otherwise did some minor support work on World at War and Bioshock 2, ranks above studios like Blizzard, Epic Games, and Bioware.

Oh, and no mention of either Infinity Ward or Treyarch, either. And if the list is meant to be an "of all time" listing, then there's also no mention of Maxis, Psygnosis, or Rare, either.

Yeah, this is a stupid list that really isn't worthy of attention.

Where the heck is Intelligent Systems!???

You know, Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, Paper Mario. Never a bad game in their history? Phah!

And Retro Studios.........

How retarded and drunk was the guy who made this list? Im sorry but to even be on this list you should have a min of 10 games and to be in the top 10 1 of those said 10 games has to be 5 million or more seller.

Mojang ahead of a Nintendo for 1 game?Yeah..... Thats real great right there....not hating on Mojang cause what they did was pretty great but dang 1 game and they are 2nd? They shouldnt even be on this list yet too many greats with more history and games are deserving of these spots.

Retro Studios
Squareenix... Sure their current work is low grade mostly but have we forgot their past greatness?
Intelligent
Gamefreak..... Come on how can you miss these guys?
Polyphony Digital
Rare
HAL Laboratory
Hudson Soft
Namco
Midway Games

Thats just a few you guys missed which 2 or 3 of them could be in the top 10. Gosh when i seen this list it just made my blood boil lol

I wish to see Rocksteady booted from the list, if only because all of the segments in Arkham City with guys with guns are unplayably broken.

How so?

Those guys have perfect coverage all the time. There've only been one or two runs of those that i haven't died 5-20 times.

You have to go stealthy. Take each of them one by one. Arkham Asylum was easier in that way that enemies didn't have that many guns.

OT: Yea some really bizzare placements and some omissions.

I get that, but they always catch me, unless i take an amount of time that the developers clearly wouldn't have intended.

You are not supposed to let them fire at you. If it's a room with armed guys spread out/patroling, you are supposed to stealth clean the room. If they catch you, drop a smoke bomb and hide. If it's a group of guys standing together aka you have to fight them head on, try to get the jump on the armed guy and keep an eye on the gun that's laying on the floor. If someone tries to pick it up, batarang to the face. Try to build up a quick 5 combo and destory the weapon (default Y on PC). If you still have trouble with firearms, learn that one upgrade where you can disable two weapons without the enemy realizing it. Seriously, the two Batman games are probably my favorite games of the last ten years, I love just about everything about them, aside from the fact that some buttons have too many functions (spacebar). In fact I have Arkham City running right now.

On Topic: Yeah, that list is pretty much garbage, no love for a lot of outstanding studios. Mojang and Valve in front of Studios like Nintendo EAD and Naughty Dog is a major fuck up.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

It's that first snare that i have problems with. I always get caught trying to take out the first guy, no matter how alone he seemed to be, and they always just seem to follow me up to gargoyles or whatever.

Edit: what really burns me about this is they often set it up so that you're going to get caught on your way into the room whatever you do. Like at the base of Wander Tower (both times). There was no way to drop in there without them completely lighting you up.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

In all fairness, EDGE had this to say about the list:

"We're interested in technical and creative ability, and in studios that realise the most involving and stimulating game worlds, whether that's through visual, audio or game design. Imagination to bring new influences and themes to games, experiment with new ways of interacting, ingenuity in creating enthralling experiences, understand and engage with their audiences and have the vision to know where games are going next."

Then Valve shouldn't be on this list either since DOTA, Team Fortress and Portal 2 are not really innovative and do not push any boundaries. Same goes for Bungie (past glories) and Riot games (milking their one big game, which isn't innovative at all).

No Atlus? Haven't even heard of some of these.

It's also an annual list aparently so you would guess it's focused on the last year.

But then they have devs like id who rereleased Doom3 and a Rage DLC last year after the dissapointing RAGE on the list. Rank Bungie over 343 even tho Bungie hasn't released anything since Reach in 2010 and we know little about what they are working on. Play Dead who's claim to fame is the neat but not minblowing 2+ year old LIMBO. Plus odd inclusions like Codemasters despite them being a publisher with 3 seperate internal studios that go by the name Codemasters, But the multistudio Rockstar is limited to one studio which hasn't released a game themselves since 2009 (tho they helped other rockstar studios on Red Dead and Max Payne 3 other studios took the lead on those) . Relic who despite being a great developer hasn't released anything of note since 2009's Dawn of War II.

Then exclude devs like CDProjekt RED who's approach to game development and community "management, with tonnes of free post release content etc is pretty damn amazing and they have 2 big projects comming up. Leave off Subset Games the developers of last years innovative and highly regarded FTL. And they also leave off Torn Banner developers of the inovative first person multiplayer melee focused game Chivalry: MW.
