Most of my friends own a PS360, but they arent core gamers at all, they just play FPS games, and mostly because they are either violent or cinematic, haha fcking idiots xD

You'd have to nail down some defining criteria first, since it varies from person to person. You also have people leaving and joining the ranks constantly.

In my opinion, "core" is someone who considers gaming to be a somewhat important part of their life. It's a hobby that they are actively engaged in. What makes the numbers hard to nail down is that a lot of people have a gaming system to play one or two games, be it a sports game, CoD, or Wii Fit.

Considering that, I can't imagine that the term "core" describes more than 1/4th of the people who own a PS3 or 360. That number would be way less on the Wii.

lol, actually using Wii numbers to estimate the figure would be more accurate, as only real core gamers would buy a Wii for its few masterpieces ;)

for me a core gamer would be a person who plays complex deep games on a constant basis....oh and your estimation is pretty close imo, 25% out of 80m would be 20m, like 8% of the total figure.
