no matter what you think, it's the evolutuion of hardware, when the industry offers hardware with enough power plus low energy cost, allowing that smartphones use 4k resolution, they will do it, and everybody will buy it with a big smile on their faces, like they do to 1080P phones today.

 

Mobile industry(smartphones and tablets) is evolving fast and the day of 4k mobile devices will arrive, no matter if you like it or not.

true, i mean how else will they make the masses buy there new 500 Dollar phone?

I can't wait till the ps4k comes out and can't even output in 4k. That would be classic Sony.

I believe that PS4 will run movies, and simple games(PSN games) at 4K resolution, but AAA will run at 1080.

No. A higher resolution makes it easier to read on these displays and if they are high enough, something like antialiasing isn't needed anymore.

I read somewhere Japan isn't going to bother with 4k as it's too soon and will wait for 8k which is at least another 5 years away from becoming mainstream. 720/1080 is fine for now especially for TV and film watching. Higher resolutions only really benefit games and only then if the textures are up to scratch.
