I'm really disappointed how Valve and Gabe Newell has acted about Windows 8.

Didn't he used to work for Microsoft but then he left? I think he has some kind of grudge against them. He's one of those people that never let go of the past. I hate that.

Dont get me wrong, I love steam and valve but gabe newell annoys me a lot.  He use to annoy me when he talked crap about the PS3 constantly too.  He needs to just shutup sometimes

I posted a thread about this here - http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=152689

No wonder he is sad since in 2 months 7% of his users migrated to Windows 8.

I wish he would shut up with all the windows hate and start talking about half life 3.

Valve is a service company now. If a game can't be turned into a service with microtransactions, it isn't made. Operating Steam, TF2 and Dota2 will make them so much more money than a single boxed retail game.

I thought TF2 was 100% free? The only thing you can buy are clothing and hats or whatever which are completely unnecessary since it's a FPS.

Don't underestimate the hats.

Old news - Like Gabe most people dont like the way Microsoft jumped into the App-like UI.

We want the desktop back!

it has nothing to do with the ui. he fears the closed system and the windows store closed system (based off the apple app store). he is looking out for his wallet, I can't blame him.

Do you think a new OS or Linux will improve and become more appealing enough to sway people to get them instead of MS' OS?

I honestly dont think its possible....I just hope future OSes from MS wont be as restricted as Windows 8 is ;x.

I'm gonna stick with 7 as long as I can and will eventually upgrade to 8 on a new hardware that I will eventually get in the future (unless Windows 9 comes out).

The only reason windows is taking the path it is is because that is what consumbers want( iam not talking about the UI here, but the app store). People have shown support for closed systems. I think ms's apporach is the best way, have both options, the old way not linked to a central store where anything goes, and the new way with a closed system that is controlled and monitered by a company. I wish they didn't restrict it the metro ui/deskot ui like they do but it is what it is. I do not think any os will dethrone windows at this time, android doesn't seem to appeal to businesses and with out them it will eventually get smaller, apple is too closed a system to be a monoply.

Would you really blame the poor man? Windows 8 is just... well, Windows 8.

A couple more companies say the same thing but this is old news.
