I'm just going to repost the same message I put in another one of your threads.

I agree that food stamps should be limited to healthy food. I've seen plenty of times people load up on sodas, chips, and anything else unhealthy at the 7/11 and swipe their WIC card. Papa Murphy's (take home pizza to cook in oven) shouldn't be allowed to accept food stamps either. Fruits, veggies, and meat is all you should be allowed to buy with a WIC card at a grocery store (convenience store/gas stations shouldn't be allowed to accept WIC). Buy everything else with your own money.

WIC is completely different from SNAP (food stamps). WIC is limited to grocery stores and they look like checks which has the items you can redeem. Its like 4 gallons of milk a month and they have dates which they are valid. So you can only buy like 2 gallons at a time if you want to use both of the vouchers that have it on them. They also have a dozen eggs on the milk voucher so if you elect out of getting eggs you can't get them later if you use the milk. They also have peanut butter and bread voucher. 10 dollar for fresh, canned or frozen fruits and veggies. and some others

Oops then replace WIC with SNAP for my post. I think you are wrong about SNAP being allowed for fast food though (or at least in Texas). Papa Murphy's take home pizza that you bake is the only one that can take SNAP to my knowledge. I'm pretty sure you can't at Burger King, McDonald's, etc (in Texas).

its on a credit card looking think. It replenishes every month and you use it just like a credit card. You can use it in almost every place that sells food. Also, I believe you can use it at McDonalds now.... you can by anything you want that is considered food... this includes soda, chips, chocolate, gummy bears, ect ect

ew.. that pretty messed up, was it the corporate industry pressure that made Foodstamps accepted at fast food chains or demands from the public?

Anyone know what state lets people use food stamp card at a McDonald's?  In NY, you can't.  Of course, if the govermment is giving people a free spending account, then they could buy it at McDonald's, or heck about any place else.

Of course, to end up trying to manage this more is going to require hiring more people to administer and oversee things, so I am wonder if those upset at spending on welfare would want to spend even more money to cut down on fraud.

Does the SNAP card restrict what items they can order on the menu?

no, you can buy anything that is considered food with a snap card. I once bought items for thanksgiving diner and a recipe called for wine and a tin pie pan. I bought a bunch of other things too but apparently the pie pans were considered food. Only thing i had to pay for was the wine.

I once bought exotic candy with it once too. My baby's momma had the card and she was also on WIC... We had a shit load of food just from WIC (keep in mind it was suppose to only be for her and she would have gotten more when the baby came). WIC was enough for the both of us but if you qualify for WIC you also qualify for SNAP... we had no use for the snap card. We never went through the 250 bucks a month she was getting (which again, was only suppose to be for her and it would increase when the child came).

Looks like we have gone totally stupid here.  It had been pointed out that people do work, and they did allow the likes of candy, etc... to be purchased.  Those things are fine in moderation.  It was funny that I could buy candy off the shelf, but not a precooked chicken or anything else prepared.

Completely stupid considering I don't qualify because I'm a student. You know, someone who can hardly afford the bills because I have school from 8am to 7pm monday through friday so theres no time to work and when I graduate I should become a contributing member to society...

Im from a country without foodstamps.. So how does this work? The goverment sends coupons worth money to the poor and the only thing you can do with it is to buy food? Are there special supermarkets? Or can you trade them in into any food place?

Don't forget you can also use your food stamps at the ATM to withdraw cash! I work at a liquor store, on our vendor-operated ATM there is a green sticker that advertises you should "Use your EBT (food stamp) card to withdraw cash!"

What a wonderful, wonderful country we live in!

That's only if you are qualified for TANF which is cash assistance. LOL... baby's momma had that too which was also another 250 dollars a month which would increase when the baby arrived. Having first hand look at all these I think they all need a rehaul. TANF is suppose to cover bills to live... but why does the government give cash? Why cant it be a check filled out to the power company?

Yep... whole thing is completely out-of-control and messed up.  Blame both major parties as well as uninformed voters for allowing it to come to this.
