Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Any predictions on Microsoft's quarterly results being released tomorrow?

When do these numbers release?

That's one quarter, boys and girls. One quarter. Keep in mind that Microsoft 'repairs' those units and sends them right back out. Many of them wil be cycling through their system for years.

Oh, and here's a 3RROD falcon for you. I can dig up lots if you'd like:

Wrong. Microsoft repairs the Xenons and installs the new hardware into them. Ever bother looking up forum posts about refurbished units? They recieved the newest OS, and hardware modifications - including the new DVD drives (ask KN), 2nd Heatsinks (me), and as far as we know, Falcon modifications.

Of course, you must not know this since you really don't care about the Xbox 360, nor the actual issues of getting a console back after RROD.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Whatever their profit is, it will be a paper-only profit. That is, their expenses will exceed their revenue, but they will hide that fact with money set aside and charged to their previous fiscal year.

True, but at least it's starting to prove that their business model is viable over the longterm.

Just cut the RRoD crap next gen.

It's not viable in the longterm.

A razor & blades business model only works when the console has overwhelming marketshare and mass exclusive third-party support, such as the PS1 and PS2.

MS would need to be the overwhelming market leader in order to turn a consistent profit. It isn't happening. They pretty much made sure that they weren't going to turn a profit when they rushed the hardware, sold it at a loss, and priced it too high.

Not really. I just can't pass that joke up though.

I know what their earnings will be.

But I just don't want to post it know.

I have two predictions:

The first one is that the entertainment division will post $200-$300 million in profit.
The second prediction is that if my first prediction fails, it's probably because they're losing money on the Zune and/or whatever endeavors they have besides the 360.

The reason for the above predictions is that MS did no price cut, and it's a holiday quarter so there should be an increase from the previous quarter (in which they had $165 million in profit).

Software sales were good, and hardware sales should be quite profitable at this point, so I'd be a bit surprised if they didn't manage to get $200 million in profit.

But it's a profit, right?

I believe it will be better for gamers if MS can begin posting profitable years.  Not that I have any hope of the 360 becoming profitable (and that is irrelevant anyway).  But if MS can begin showing consistently profitable years they can justify the ongoing and they can show that their investment hasn't been a waste.

With their next hardware they definitely need to show a profit in the second year.

Their total profit for the past three months was 357 million:
