The real question is. How many games are more fun than Pokemon. Just about all of them.
Crappy games sell well all the time. Final Fantasy 13 for example. There's a lot of suckers out there.

pokemon as of dec 31st sold/shipped 11.6mil, vgc has it undertracked still by a hell of alot!

I edited before you replied. Final Fantasy 13 has seven million sales. Does that mean seven million people like it? Only two million purchased Final Fantasy 13-2, less are going to purchase Lightning Returns. Sales does not equal quality.
It sells well because it's one of the few RPG series most people played and automatically assume it's one of the best. Nintendo rarely try anything but Nintendo games, so how would they know. Also when kids in their teens and younger buy them every Nintendo handheld since it's a family friendly device, and kids watch the Pokemon cartoon, the parents buy them the Pokemon game. It only makes sense that it sells well.
I'm on Hulu right now. What do you know. One of the most popular TV series, not just in the kids section, but across the entire line up of television shows. Are you going to say it's the best anime too?

I'm a Vita fan too, but I can't deny the fact that X/Y is the best game in the series since Fire Red/Leaf Green. It was a huge improvement over the mediocre Black/White.

Yeah but as you say Pokemon digital is not very good. While Sony says vita digital is pretty good. And I am sure they shipped more then 15m PSV games last year for the variety in stores and so many different games.

No, I'd say most crappy games don't sell, that's why most vita games haven't sold. Less suckers out there than you thought.

The fan feedback from FF13 is no where even comparable to the fan feedback from Pokemon X/Y
