because its by far the worst main entry in the series and the most dissapointing game of 2012 hands down.



I think most people saw that it had bad reviews so they just say the game is bad. I didn't find anything bad with the story, there was never a RE game with a mindblowing story anyways. I think the gameplay is the greatest thing in the game, it has better gameplay mechanics than RE5. I already have 122 hours played so I think it has great replay value.

The latest patch unlocks the last campaign from the beginning though I wouldn't recommend starting with that one. There's now the option to play that campaign in co-op but it feels really forced in that one, it's like the other player isn't really there, lol. It also added some camera FOV settings so you can move it further away if you don't like the default settings. There'll be another update on 22nd this month too. The updates have been 11 mb each so it isn't too much to download.

Haven't played it, but the pinnacle of the series for me was Resident Evil 4. That game introduced a bit more action orientated survival horror, and it was frankly one of the best games ever made.

Unfortunately Capcom took the formula too far and have tried to capitalise on the Gears marketbase. I'm not sure its paid off. The series could've evolved past RE4, if you look at Dead Space, it is much better than anything Capcom have done with RE, because Dead Space is doing its own thing rather than trying to force elements from other games into itself. Which is why I think this series has degraded, it dosen't feel like Resident Evil anymore, it feels like a game with Resident Evil elements superimposed over mechanics from games that dont compliment the Resident Evil formula.



You can sum up the hate in the direction the series went, with just the Chris levels. It went into freaking FPS mode. I couldn't like the series anymore, after RE4. 4 was the best balance between action and horror. Now it's just action. I liked that they went away from the locked camera postion. But removing nearly every core element from RE was wrong. RE6's demo was easy. I just killed all the zombies with melee moves. Way too easy.

I always read "convoluted story" as "great plot".

 

Personally, i didnt like the cover controls and the way they tried to re-invent something that didnt need re-inventing and ended up beeing worse.

Aside from that, i didnt see anything wrong with the game. Just that with those controls i wasnt really pushed to buy it at launch. I will be getting it sometimes this year though. I'm half waiting/expecting a version with all the DLC... and maybe with a different control scheme...



hm.. I only played the Chris demo and thought that was really boring and as I've already played much better 3rd person cover shooters this gen, I didn't need this game



The forced co-op is the worse part for me. It's way too annoying.

Game really sucks donkey balls. Disposable "me too" third person shooter. I'd laugh at you if you told me this is where Resident Evil would be in 2005.



I don't think it was horrible, but it could have been better. I dislike the forced coop. While it was fun with my buddy, I thought the campaign should have been solo and the coop element could have been another mode that complements the main campaign in some way. Plus it felt like there was a lack of focus jumping from character to character. The only section I really enjoyed was Leon's.
