No, it is not a flop nor a Major one.
The Wii U didn't reach my estimated 2.5 Million (darn you few people who didn't buy the Wii U!) but that doesn't mean it did bad. And who in the world expected 3.44 Million?! Sheesh.

Uhhh...you predicted over 5 million units sold

Lol, looks like I did. I don't know what I was thinking though. That would have been impossible based on its release date.

Do you remember when that thread was created though? Was it that Seece thread from the end of 2011?

Beginning of 2012 I think. Still, I think pretty much everyone expected a Nov/Dec release at that point (based on past trends and the little info from Nintendo) so us not knowing the release date wouldn't be a factor.

Edit: What a nice sig you have, Jay.

It was also predicted by some that the WiiU would hurt PS360 sales and beat them both during the holiday season.

I think we need to talk about this.

Don't tease us, show the links!

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

It wasn't a thread with people predicting WiiU to stomp the others. Some just predicted that WiiU launch was going to have a negative impact on PS360 sales.

i said 3.4m for the WiiU but didn't even know when it was coming, where is the manbearpig rehash thread of 2012 predictions as seece never put mine in the table,

the WiiU should be judged by the Wii in teh end shouldn't it,i thought that was how the game worked as the Wii won the 7th gen so convincingly it should carry those customers with it,the WiiU has to be Nintendos best ever selling home console to not be a flop, looks like a tough road for the WiiU but who knows what will take off in the 8th gen,i see them all being level pegging with microsoft edging it

forgot thats a bad word! Not really knowing all this! I like how the poll says yes and no its a major flop. Crazy stuff Not giving an answer of not a flop but instead other.

'MAJOR flop' and 'we need to talk' are codes for joke-threads, so don't get banned because of taking that too serious.

Also, using previously used logic then those are the only possible options. The poll and thread really expose the hypocricy of this site (and what really dominates this site)

Yes this site is dominated by those who have a sense for reality.

The system is doing fine, the only thing you can really grab from its launch is that nintendo have failed to have a juggernaut of a launch where its like "you must have this system!".

In Japan its doing amazing, in north america its doing ok (similar to the ps3/360 at their launch) and in europe its, ermm... well, its being outsold by the Vita on a weekly basis 0_o

To be honest, this is to be expected. I Genuinely believe that there is almost no reason to own a Wii U at the moment. The technology isn't blow your mind amazing (neither the graphics or the control), the price isn't extremely cheap, there are no killer apps right now and there don't appear to be any in the near future; so for it to be selling at the rate it is, is definitely a good sign. I imagine sales will explode the minute Mario kart/3D Mario/ Beyonetta 2/SSMB/ Zelda/ Metroid + a few next gen ports are shown running on the system.

Too early to call anything flop this early, it applies to both vita and wiiu.
Although will definitely miss ninty predictions.

You don't get my point: We could say, the WiiU-launch is a big success, because people can be sure, that they will not get GT in the future. The numbers would be higher if GT was announced for WiiU (will you debate this?). So the numbers must be seen as great, because GT isn't announced. Same is, if the WiiU would have better tech built in, it would sell better.

That is basically the same as arguing with price and supply-constraint. If we remove all circumstances and differences between the consoles, they would sell - the same. So it is rubbish to argue with the stuff, that determines the sales in the first place. Sure, the sales-numbers are a result of price, games, tech, color-choices, advertisement, brand loyalty. But if we factor all this out, we have no longer sales to discuss.

Yes I say, if GT was announced for WiiU, the WiiU would have 2.8M instead of 2.5M now.

Alright, but what's GT? Gran Turismo? I don't think the Wii U is a flop, I just don't think it will reach the Wii's numbers. Depending on what Microsoft and Sony do with their launches and next consoles, there might be something close to a 3 way tiein worldwide sales.

I think in the near future it won't be too early to call the Vita a flop. Wii U needs to be on the market at least a year before even considering the issue.
